Review[A concise review of telomere and telomerase-related genetic markers in fibrotic lung diseases].
Fibrotic lung diseases are a heterogeneous group of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases caused by various factors. Pulmonary fibrosis is one of the common pathological changes of advanced fibrotic lung diseases. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic progressive fibrotic lung disorder with unknown etiology. ⋯ Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein complex that maintains telomere length and genome stability. The telomere shortening and mutations in telomere-related genes are associated with incidence and prognosis of pulmonary fibrosis. Here, a concise review of telomere and telomerase-related genomic markers in IPF and other fibrotic lung diseases is written.
