To characterise medical, obstetric and demographic risk factors associated with nulliparous, term, singleton, vertex (NTSV) caesarean birth. ⋯ Among NTSV births, BMI, maternal age and medical conditions are important risk factors for caesarean delivery.

To evaluate how hysterectomy affects the prescription of analgesic, psychotropic and neuroactive drugs in women with endometriosis using population-based nationwide registers. ⋯ In women with endometriosis, the long-term prescription of analgesics did not decrease after hysterectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
A double blinded randomised placebo-controlled study of intramuscular pethidine for pain relief in the first stage of labour.
It has recently been suggested that systemic pethidine is ineffective in relieving labour pain. This study aims to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of pethidine in labour. ⋯ Systemic pethidine was more effective at relieving labour pain than placebo. Its analgesic effect, however, was modest.

Ordinary meta-analyses indicate that magnesium sulphate (MgSO4 ) treatment in women at imminent risk for preterm delivery decreases the offspring's risk of cerebral palsy (CP). However, repetitive testing of cumulative data calls for statistical caution, e.g. by trial sequential analysis (TSA), for which there are previously insufficient samples to draw a firm conclusion. Recently, a randomised controlled trial (RCT) provided additional data that potentially increased the sample size such that a new TSA might detect a statistically significant effect. ⋯ Antenatal magnesium sulphate decreases the risk of cerebral palsy in children born preterm.

Observational Study
Impact of changes to national UK Guidance on testing for gestational diabetes screening during a pandemic: a single-centre observational study.
To examine the differences in detection rate for gestational diabetes (GDM) comparing the methodology recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) compared with testing described as appropriate during the Covid-19 pandemic by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG). ⋯ Screening for GDM using RCOG Covid criteria reduced detection rates.
