Case Reports[Isolated torsion of the Fallopian tube in a 15-year old adolescent. About one case].
Isolated torsion of the Fallopian tube is an uncommon event. Surgery is often necessary to establish the diagnosis. This report focuses on a 15-year old female who presented with acute pelvic pain. ⋯ Based on this experience as well as on other similar reported cases, characteristics of isolated torsion of the Fallopian tube are discussed. This pathology should be considered in the differential diagnosis of acute pelvic pain in the female patient. Prompt surgical intervention may allow for preservation of the tube.

[Routine use of ST-segment of fetal electrocardiogram for monitoring labor. A year's experience (preliminary results)].
Two randomized trials found that monitoring labor by analyzing the fetal electrocardiogram (STAN) appears to offer better sensitivity and specificity in screening for metabolic acidosis than cardiotocography (CTG) does. We report here the results of a descriptive study of 173 cases between 1 June 2001 and 31 May 2002, the objectives of which were twofold: to determine the number of possible false negatives (defined by neonatal metabolic acidosis with a pH less than 7.05 and base deficit (BD) greater than 12 mmol/l, in the absence of a STAN decisions event more than 30 min before birth), and to assess whether STAN indicated the need for operative intervention too late in cases of fetal distress. ⋯ The results appear to indicate that use of STAN with the usual CTG enables an appropriate response to cases of fetal distress, but it remains difficult to determine the real benefits that can be expected from this method in France. Longer assessment in our population is required before we can assess its actual advantages.

Review[Epidemiology of anal lesions (fissure and thrombosed external hemorroid) during pregnancy and post-partum].
Thrombosed external hemorrhoids (TEH) and anal fissure (AF) are 2 frequent sources of anal pains during childbirth. We are going to define their incidences as available in publications and in our experience in Bichat hospital. Then we will define their risk factors. ⋯ To conclude, 1/3 of pregnant women develop AF or TEH after delivery. These 2 pathologies are strongly correlated to terminal constipation. TEH seems equally furthered by traumatic delivery.

[Transfer of obstetric patients in a pregnant and postpartum condition to an intensive care unit: eighty-two cases in Burkina Faso].
To review all obstetric admissions to an intensive care unit (ICU) of an African hospital. ⋯ Mortality of obstetric patients admitted to ICUs is very high in our setting. Establishing an ICU within the obstetric unit or early detection of cases to be transferred (scoring system?) should improve the prognosis.

This paper reviews literature about oocyte donation for patients with Turner's syndrome and reports the experience of our center. Before contemplating pregnancy, it is essential to perform a careful evaluation of the cardiovascular system, the renal system, the thyroid status and the glucose tolerance. Different studies have reported a suboptimal response of the endometrium of women with Turner's syndrome to oestrogen therapy, and suggested that higher doses of estrogens may be necessary to achieve appropriate endometrial preparation. ⋯ In our center, 9 patients with a Turner's syndrome had 15 cycles of oocyte donation. Five pregnancies were obtained among which three were evolutive. The outcome of oocyte donation cycles were comparable for patients with a Turner's syndrome and for patients with other indications of oocyte donation.
