Review[Focus on placental transfusion for preterm neonates: Delayed cord clamping and/or milking?]
Anemia of prematurity remains a common complication despite recent advances in perinatal and neonatal medicine. The delayed cord clamping (at least 30seconds as recommended) has several benefits: increased hemoglobin and hematocrit levels at birth, improved initial hemodynamic, decreased incidence of transfusions and intraventricular hemorrhages. ⋯ This is a safe and easy method, which can be done either by an obstetrician or pediatrician with comparable results for the child on his hemodynamic, hematological and neurological status. It still lacks technical information on this method and neurodevelopmental outcomes of these preterm infants.

Preeclampsia is a leading cause of pregnancy complications and affects 3-7% of pregnant women. Pathophysiology of preeclampsia is still unclear. ⋯ This review summarizes the current knowledge of a new potential etiology of the disease, with a special focus on oxidative stress. We also review the different factors that have been proposed to cause endothelial cell dysfunction in preeclampsia, and trials investigating the role of antioxidant supplementation in preeclampsia.

Migraine is a common pathology in women. Migraine disease is well defined by the International Headache Society and has to be distinguished from others types of headaches. The occurrence of migraine attacks is frequently linked to the menstrual cycle. ⋯ Migraine with aura is currently identified as a stroke risk factor and this risk dramatically increases in case of oestroprogestative pill intake and smoking. The World Health Organization established guidelines about oestroprogestative intake in case of migraine while strictly contraindicating oestroprogestative intake in patients with migraine with aura. This review explains the influence of different contraceptive intake, oral contraceptive regimens, and type of oestrogen in oestroprogestative contraceptive on migraine occurrence.

Review[In vitro oocyte maturation for female fertility preservation].
Recovering immature oocytes from unstimulated ovaries, followed by in vitro maturation (IVM) was initially proposed to avoid the risks and side effects of exogenous gonadotropin administration. Therefore, during the past decades, IVM was mainly offered to patients with polycystic ovary syndrome at high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. However, the development of fertility preservation has recently opened new perspectives in the field of IVM. The present review reports the possible indications of IVM, in the strategy of female fertility preservation.

If tobacco has been recognized for many years as a major risk factor for cardiovascular, lung diseases and cancer in the general population, women are insufficiently aware of the consequences and the specific gynecological operative risks related to this intoxication. Thus, a regular tobacco consumption increases the risk for many gynecological conditions may require surgical treatment with in addition a significant negative impact on the healing process and the risk of postoperative complications. ⋯ The implementation of these recommendations during the preoperative period requires improvement of staff training and better practices to allow smoking cessation effective and sustainable. It is lawful in this context to delay scheduled surgery of 6 to 8 weeks to allow an optimal smoking cessation and to continue smoking cessation for the time necessary for healing to reduce the excess operative risk associated with smoking.
