Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
[Comparison of intravenous dipyrone to intravenous metoclopramide in the treatment of acute crisis of migraine: randomized clinical trial].
Migraine is one of the commonest diseases of clinical practice. ⋯ There was no difference about the intensity of pain reduction neither about the development of collateral effects comparing dipyrone to metoclopramide.

To determine the outcomes of 354 radiofrequency rhizotomies and 21 neurovascular decompressions performed as treatment for 367 facial pain patients (290 idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia, 52 symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia, 16 atypical facial pain, 9 post-herpetic neuralgia). ⋯ Both techniques for idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia are usefull. Radiofrequency rhizotomy was also efficient to treat symptomatic facial pain, and post-herpetic facial pain, but is not a good technique for atypical facial pain.

The increase of relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF) may contribute for a change in blood oxygenation level dependent signal (BOLD). The main purpose of this study is to investigate some aspects of perfusional alterations in the human brain in response to a uniform stimulation: hypercapnia induced by breath holding. It was observed that the BOLD signal increased globally during hypercapnia and that it is correlated with the time of breath holding. This signal increase shows a clear distinction between gray and white matter, being greater in the grey matter.

To evaluate the diagnostic usefulness of cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) cellularity, protein, neutrophils, glucose and lactate for detection of postoperative bacterial meningitis. ⋯ The CSF glucose, lactate, and cellularity can be used for the diagnosis of bacterial meningitis. Moreover, it can be helpful to differentiate bacterial from aseptic meningitis.

To establish reference values for measures of blood flow velocities and impedance indexes in healthy individuals through conventional transcranial Doppler (TCD) and to observe their variations in relation to the age and sex. ⋯ TCD was shown useful in the evaluation of hemodynamic cerebral for our population. Our results are similar to the other studies, so much in the reference values as in relationship with the age and the sex.
