The outcomes of combined endoscopic surgery and fibrinolytic treatment protocol for intraventricular hemorrhage: a randomized controlled trial.
Intraventricular fibrinolysis (IVF) and endoscopic surgery (ES) are the new promising treatment strategies to enhance the rate of hematoma clearance, which might improve functional outcome. This study investigated and compared the outcomes among these interventions. ⋯ This study demonstrated that combined ES and IVF is safe and effective for the treatment of IVH. In addition, it concluded that aggressive but safe procedures used to remove IVH could improve clinical outcome in patients with IVH.

Combined External Ventricular Drainage and Endoscope-Assisted Microsurgery using the middle frontal gyrus approach in severe ventricular hemorrhage with the casting of the fourth ventricle.
To investigate combined external ventricular drainage and endoscope-assisted microsurgery using the middle frontal gyrus approach in patients with severe ventricular hemorrhage with casting of the fourth ventricle and patients' recovery after this treatment. ⋯ Combined external ventricular drainage and endoscope-assisted microsurgery using the middle frontal gyrus approach can effectively improve severe ventricular hemorrhage with casting of the fourth ventricle and enhance patients' neurological function and recovery.

Application of the Ommaya reservoir in managing ventricular hemorrhage.
Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of the combined treatment of an Ommaya reservoir and conventional external ventricular drainage (EVD) using urokinase in the management of IVH. ⋯ The combined treatment approach of an Ommaya reservoir and EVD with intraventricular urokinase is safe and effective in patients with IVH. It increased clot clearance, shortened conventional catheter-based EVD duration, prolonged total drainage time, reduced the hydrocephalus incidence and mortality, and contributed to good clinical outcomes. The Ommaya reservoir provides a safe way to increase the injection times of urokinase, which accelerated clot resolution and did not increase the risk for ventriculitis infection.

Which side of lateral ventricles to choose during external ventricular drainage in patients with intraventricular hemorrhage: ipsilateral or contralateral?
We attempted to investigate the effect of external ventricular drainage (EVD) plus intraventricular fibrinolysis from ipsilateral or contralateral ventricle on clinical outcomes in patients with intraventricular hemorrhage. ⋯ External ventricular drainage plus EVT from the ipsilateral or contralateral ventricle has similar short-term outcomes and complications in patients with intraventricular hemorrhage. Faster clot clearance in the third and fourth ventricles but higher ICP levels at the early stage may be expected in patients with EVD from the ipsilateral ventricle, compared with those from with EVD from the contralateral ventricle.
