Normalization of Symptoms in Advanced Child Cancer: The PediQUEST-Response Case Study.
Children, adolescents and young adults with cancer continue to experience significant symptom suffering throughout their illness. ⋯ Normalization of symptoms is a pervasive barrier enacted by all involved in caring for children with advanced cancer. Strategies to overcome normalization are critical to ease child distress.

Opioids efficiently manage pain and dyspnea. However, guidelines on symptom management with opioids differ, which may lead to uncertainty among medical staff concerning opioid indication and ethical implication, especially when caring for COVID-19 patients. ⋯ Some participants reported very personal perceptions and deficits of the healthcare system, especially when caring for COVID-19 patients. Uniform interdisciplinary guidelines for symptom control, more education, and support by trained staff confident in symptom control should be increasingly considered in the future.

The impact on emotional well-being of being a palliative care volunteer: An interpretative phenomenological analysis.
Much palliative care provision relies on the support of volunteers. Attention is paid to the risks to professionals providing care, such as stress and burnout, but understanding if this is an issue for volunteers is little understood. It is important to understand the impact their role has on volunteers emotional well-being. ⋯ Although there are psychosocial benefits for volunteers in their role, it is important to understand the challenges faced and consider ongoing support to help volunteers manage these challenges. This could be addressed through the consideration of coping mechanisms, further training and reflective practice for volunteers.

To investigate the effect of tele-clinics on palliative care patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ Virtual visits in palliative care are efficient means of decreasing the threat of COVID-19 contagion. It is recommended to increase the palliative care patients' awareness of tele-clinics and their positive outcomes, particularly during the pandemic.

Analyze the characteristics and health care received by the patients included in a care program for advanced chronic disease («AgéndaECA»). ⋯ Home is the fundamental place of care for patients with advanced chronic disease. The inclusion in a care program increases home visits and decreases hospital care. It is necessary to propose and evaluate strategies for improving the care of patients with advanced chronic disease developed in the primary care setting.
