Meta AnalysisThe predictive value of airway occlusion pressure at 100 msec (P0.1) on successful weaning from mechanical ventilation: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The predictive value of airway occlusion pressure at 100 milliseconds (P0.1) on weaning outcome has been controversial. We performed a meta-analysis to investigate the predictive value of P0.1 on successful weaning from mechanical ventilation. ⋯ This meta-analysis suggests that P0.1 is a useful tool to predict successful weaning. To determine clinical utility, a large prospective study investigating the sensitivity and specificity of P0.1 on weaning outcomes from mechanical ventilation is warranted.

Meta AnalysisCorticosteroids in COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 ARDS: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Corticosteroids are now recommended for patients with severe COVID-19 including those with COVID-related ARDS. This has generated renewed interest regarding whether corticosteroids should be used in non-COVID ARDS as well. The objective of this study was to summarize all RCTs examining the use of corticosteroids in ARDS. ⋯ The use of corticosteroids probably reduces mortality in patients with ARDS. This effect was consistent between patients with COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 ARDS, corticosteroid types, and dosage.

Meta AnalysisCurrent trends and geographical differences in therapeutic profile and outcomes of COVID-19 among pregnant women - a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. Due to the lack of effective treatments for COVID-19, it becomes imperative to assess the geographical differences and trends in the current clinical care and outcomes of COVID-19 in pregnant women. ⋯ Geographical differences in therapeutic practice of COVID-19 were observed with differential rates of maternal and clinical outcomes. Minimizing the use of some therapeutics particularly antibiotics, antivirals, oxygen therapy, immunosuppressants, and hydroxychloroquine by risk stratification and careful consideration may further improve maternal and clinical outcomes.

Reducing the dose of neuromuscular blocking agents with adjuncts: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Acute global shortages of neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBA) threaten to impact adversely on perioperative and critical care. The use of pharmacological adjuncts may reduce NMBA dose. However, the magnitude of any putative effects remains unclear. ⋯ PROSPERO: CRD42020183969.

Obesity a predictor of outcomes of COVID-19 hospitalized patients-A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a global health crisis. Very few studies have reported association between obesity and severity of COVID-19. In this meta-analysis, we assessed the association of obesity and outcomes in COVID-19 hospitalized patients. ⋯ In meta-analysis, COVID-19 patient with obesity had higher odds of poor outcomes compared with better outcomes with a pooled OR of 1.88 (95% CI: 1.25-2.80; p = 0.002), with 86% heterogeneity between studies (p < 0.00001). Our study suggests a significant association between obesity and COVID-19 severity and poor outcomes. Our results findings may have important suggestions for the clinical management and future research of obesity and COVID-19.
