The aim of this study is to assess the causes and rates of re-operation in olecranon fractures in adults treated with transosseous suture. ⋯ Transosseous suture with high strength thread is a valid alternative for treating Mayo IIA olecranon fractures in adult patients, decreasing re-operation rates for implant removal. There may be, in a moderate percentage of cases, radiologic diastasis of the posterior cortex at the fracture site, without causing pain nor limiting mobility LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: III.

Lesions of peripheral nerves substantially influence the long-term prognosis and functional outcome. Approximately 70% of peripheral nerval lesions are associated with vascular injuries and occur more frequently with certain fractures and osteosynthesis types. The prognosis and treatment depend on the severity of the injury and the presence of axonal lesions, in particular, determines the further procedure. ⋯ Iatrogenic vascular lesions occur particularly in percutaneous interventions and are reported in up to 8% of cases after operations involving the musculoskeletal system. Iatrogenic nerve lesions are almost exclusively the result of surgical procedures and represent up to 17.5% of traumatic nerve injuries. For all lesions the general principles of surgical treatment are valid and the rapid involvement of professional expertise is decisive.

Bacterial adherence to a suture material is one of the main causes of surgical site infections. An antibacterial suture material with enhanced wound healing function may protect the surgical site from infections. Thus, the present study aimed to investigate the synergistic effect of propolis and biogenic metallic nanoparticles when combined with silk sutures for biomedical use. ⋯ Coating the silk sutures with propolis and biogenic AgNPs gave an effective antibacterial capacity to surgical sutures besides providing biocompatibility and wound healing activity.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudySuture versus screw fixation technique for tibial eminence fracture: A meta-analysis of laboratory studies.
The aim of this study was to compare the biomechanical properties between the suture fixation technique and the screw fixation technique for tibial eminence fracture (TEF). ⋯ The FiberWire suture fixation may be biomechanically superior to a single screw fixation in TEF treatment in mature knees regarding ultimate failure load, while no significant difference was found between the two fixations in terms of stiffness and displacement after the cyclic testing.
