Accuracy of the history of injury obtained from the caregiver in infantile head trauma.
We investigated the accuracy of parental reports of infant trauma history. ⋯ The accuracy of the history obtained from the caregivers of infants may be low in severe infantile head trauma. Therefore, medical professionals should treat the mechanism of injury obtained from caregivers as secondary information and investigate for possible AHT in cases with inconsistencies between the history that was taken and the severity of the injury observed.

Age-related injury patterns in Spanish trauma ICU patients. Results from the RETRAUCI.
Injury patterns may differ in trauma patients when age is considered. This information is relevant in the management of trauma patients and for planning preventive measures. ⋯ Different injury patterns exist in relation with ageing in trauma ICU patients. Adult patients were more likely to present high-energy trauma with significant injuries in different areas whilst elderly patients were prone to low-energy falls, complicated by antiplatelets or anticoagulants use, resulting in severe brain injury and increased mortality.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyCoping as a Multifaceted Construct: Associations With Psychological Outcomes Among Family Members of Mechanical Ventilation Survivors.
To develop and evaluate a preliminary multifaceted model for coping among family members of patients who survive mechanical ventilation. ⋯ To our knowledge, this is the first study to explore coping as a multifaceted construct and its relationship with family psychological outcomes among survivors of mechanical ventilation. We found certain family characteristics of coping such as optimism, resilience, and social support to be associated with less psychological distress. Further research is warranted to identify potentially modifiable aspects of coping that might guide future interventions.

Sympathoadrenal Activation is Associated with Acute Traumatic Coagulopathy and Endotheliopathy in Isolated Brain Injury.
Acute coagulopathy after traumatic brain injury (TBI) involves a complex multifactorial hemostatic response that is poorly characterized. ⋯ Biomarkers of coagulopathy and endotheliopathy are associated with poor outcome after TBI. Catecholamine levels were highly correlated with endotheliopathy and coagulopathy markers within the first 24 h after injury. Further research is warranted to characterize the pathogenic role of SNS-mediated hemostatic alterations in isolated TBI.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudySevere Trauma in Estonia: 256 consecutive cases analysed and the impact on outcomes comparing two regions.
The purpose of this study was to investigate epidemiology of severe injuries in Estonia while comparing outcomes at regional trauma facilities. ⋯ The annual incidence of injuries with ISS > 15 was 256 cases with overall mortality at 20.7 % in Estonia. We observed comparable adjusted outcomes at the major regional trauma facilities. This study contains benchmarking data on severely injured patients in Estonia providing potential for future trauma care evaluation and regional outcome comparisons.
