Relationship between cooling time and neurological outcomes in targeted temperature management.
The relationship between cooling time (CT) variables and neurological outcomes is controversial. We evaluated the relationship between CT and neurological outcomes in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients treated with targeted temperature management (TTM). ⋯ We did not find a relationship between CT and neurological outcomes at 6 months.

Early identified risk factors and their predictive performance of brain death in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survivors.
Early prediction of brain death (BD) after the return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) in patients with cardiac arrest would be useful for the proper distribution of good quality transplantable organs and medical resources. We aimed to early identify independent risk factors of BD and their predictive performance in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) survivors. ⋯ High levels of initial serum NSE and PLR obtained within 6 h after ROSC may help early predict progression to BD in OHCA survivors. A large prospective multicenter study should be conducted to confirm these results.

Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adult patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a retrospective large cohort multicenter study in Japan.
The prevalence of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) has been increasing rapidly worldwide. However, guidelines or clinical studies do not provide sufficient data on ECPR practice. The aim of this study was to provide real-world data on ECPR for patients with OHCA, including details of complications. ⋯ In this large cohort, data on the ECPR of 1644 patients with OHCA show that the proportion of favorable neurological outcomes at hospital discharge was 14.1%, survival rate at hospital discharge was 27.2%, and complications were observed during ECPR in 32.7%.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation duration and favorable neurological outcome after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a nationwide multicenter observational study in Japan (the JAAM-OHCA registry).
We aimed to assess the association between cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR duration) and outcomes after OHCA. ⋯ The probability of favorable neurological outcome rapidly decreased within a few minutes of CPR duration. But, the impact of CPR duration may be influenced by each patient's clinical feature.

Prehospital airway management for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A nationwide multicenter study from the KOCARC registry.
This study investigated whether prehospital advanced airway management (AAM) is associated with improved survival of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) compared with conventional bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation. ⋯ In this nationwide real-world data analysis of OHCA, the 30-day neurologically favorable survival did not differ between prehospital AAM and BVM after adjustment for clinical characteristics.
