Impact of therapeutic hypothermia during cardiopulmonary resuscitation on neurologic outcome: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Therapeutic cooling initiated during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (intra arrest therapeutic hypothermia, IATH) provided diverging effect on neurological outcome of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients depending on the initial cardiac rhythm and the cooling methods used. ⋯ PROSPERO (CRD42019130322).

Gender differences and survival after an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Patients who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) have unacceptably high mortality rates. It remains unclear whether gender has an association with survival in this regard. Hence, we aimed to investigate the association between gender and survival by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ Eleven studies with ORs were pooled, showing a significant survival benefit in women (OR = 1.08, p < 0.05, I2 = 52.3%). In the subgroup analysis, both premenopausal women (< 50 years) (OR = 1.42, p < 0.001, I2 = 0%) and postmenopausal women (≥ 50 years) (OR = 1.07, p < 0.05, I2 = 16.4%) had higher odds of survival compared with age-matched men. Despite the unfavorable factors, the pooled results showed a significant survival benefit in women after OHCA, especially in premenopausal women.

Conduct a diagnostic test accuracy systematic review and meta-analysis of the post-return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) electrocardiogram (ECG) to indicate an acute-appearing coronary lesion and revascularization. ⋯ Based on low certainty evidence, STE had good classification for acute coronary lesion and fair classification for revascularization. STE was more specific than sensitive for these outcomes and no single ECG feature excluded them. Uniform definitions and terminology would greatly facilitate the interpretation of subsequent studies.

Induced Hypothermia in Patients with Cardiac Arrest and a Non-shockable Rhythm: Meta-analysis and Trial Sequential Analysis.
Controversy surrounds utilization of induced hypothermia (IHT) in comatose cardiac arrest (CA) survivors with a non-shockable rhythm. ⋯ In this meta-analysis of 9 studies, the utilization of IHT was not associated with a survival benefit at discharge. Although the meta-analysis showed lack of benefit of IHT in terms of FNO and survivals beyond 90 days, the corresponding TSA showed high probability of type-II statistical error, and therefore more randomized controlled trials powered for these outcomes are needed.
