A rare cause of erectile dysfunction: Bilateral thrombosed internal iliac artery aneurysms.
Internal iliac artery aneurysms are a relatively uncommon condition that can have serious consequences if left untreated. This paper presents a case of erectile dysfunction caused by thrombosis of the internal iliac artery aneurysms in a 52-years-old male patient with common iliac and internal iliac artery aneurysms. Following the intracavernous self-injection treatment, the patient's complaints about erectile dysfunction ceased. ⋯ Erectile dysfunction itself is not a life-threatening condition. However, it should be highlighted that erectile dysfunction can be a sign of life-threatening iliac artery diseases, as in this case. Therefore, it is crucial to recognize the potential seriousness of this condition and to investigate it thoroughly.

The endocrine system intricately regulates male sexual development and health which influences masculinization, sexual libido, muscle mass, bone density, and overall vitality. Disorders in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis can lead to hypogonadism, gynecomastia, sexual dysfunction, and infertility. ⋯ Gynecomastia results from a high estrogen-to-androgen ratio, mostly from either excess estrogen or decreased androgens. Sexual dysfunction is more commonly secondary to psychological or metabolic disorders; consider workups to rule out endocrine etiologies including hypogonadism if indicated.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease that predisposes to chronic damage and dysfunction of various organs, including leading to erectile dysfunction (ED) and asthenospermia. Literature suggests that ginseng plays an important role in the treatment and management of DM. Ginseng may have a therapeutic effect on the complications of DM-induced ED and asthenospermia. ⋯ Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes enrichment analysis showed that they were mainly involved in AGE-RAGE signaling pathway in diabetic complications, TNF signaling pathway, Lipid and atherosclerosis. The interactions of core active components and targets were analyzed by molecular docking. Ginseng may play a comprehensive therapeutic role in the treatment of DM-induced ED and asthenospermia through "multicomponent, multi-target, and multi-pathway" biological mechanisms such as inflammation and oxidative stress.

Several reports showed that sexual function was affected during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. ⋯ An association of new-onset ED in men who suffered COVID-19 infection was established. This may be due to virus-induced endothelial cell dysfunction; however, an underlying mechanism and causation have not yet been clearly elucidated. While it appears that COVID-19 infection may be a risk factor for ED, additional research is needed to establish causality.
