Although there is some evidence that flood exposure in Bangladesh and other developing countries increases the risk of chronic undernutrition in children, the underlying mechanisms are, to our knowledge, unknown. The objectives of this research are to examine the association between recurrent flood exposure and the likelihood of chronic undernutrition in children and to investigate the mediators of this association. ⋯ Flood exposure was found associated with the likelihood of child chronic undernutrition, and this relationship was mediated through lack of having a separate kitchen, history of diarrhea, insufficient vaccination, use of unclean cooking fuel, and poor minimum dietary diversity. Interventions to reduce the prevalence of these risk factors could contribute to reducing the disparities in child undernourishment brought on by exposure to flooding.

Increased level of blood LDL-C has a causal and cumulative effect on advancing atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVD). European guidelines for treating high LDL-C levels have been recently updated. However, in France, several challenges (e.g., physician and patient awareness, healthcare management) limit the application of management guidelines. The aim of this study was to understand the current opinions and perceived unmet clinical needs in recognising and managing hypercholesterolemia as an ASCVD risk factor, and to explore consensus around factors that support the effective management of elevated LDL-C. ⋯ Based on consensus levels, key recommendations for improving current guidelines and approaches to care have been developed. Implementation of these recommendations will lead to better concordance with international treatment guidelines and increase levels of education for healthcare practitioners and patients. In turn, this will improve the available treatment pathways for cardiovascular diseases, potentially creating improved patient outcomes in the future.

In Brazil, many individuals with tuberculosis (TB) do not receive appropriate care due to delayed or missed diagnosis, ineffective treatment regimens, or loss-to-follow-up. This study aimed to estimate the health losses and TB program costs attributable to each gap in the care cascade for TB disease in Brazil. ⋯ In this study, we observed that delays to diagnosis, post-disease sequelae and treatment loss to follow-up were primary contributors to the TB burden of disease in Brazil. Reducing delays to diagnosis, improving healthcare after TB cure, and reducing treatment loss to follow-up should be prioritized to improve the burden of TB disease in Brazil.

In addition to the physical disease burden of the COVID-19 pandemic, concern exists over its adverse mental health effects. ⋯ None.
