Dry eye syndrome is an ocular surface disease with high incidence. Acupuncture combined with artificial tears is effective for treating dry eye syndrome. This study aimed to evaluate the evidence for the efficacy of acupuncture combined with artificial tears in dry eye syndrome by conducting a systematic review and meta-analysis. ⋯ The results of this study indicated that acupuncture combined with artificial tears could be considered safe, effective to patients with DES.

This systematic literature review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) of the sacroiliac joint. Bone marrow edema (BME) of the sacroiliac joint is an early manifestation of some diseases, such as ankylosing spondylitis, and is usually examined by nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); however, MRI can be intolerable for some patients; hence, numerous studies have analyzed DECT examinations. ⋯ DECT appears to be a promising diagnostic tool for detecting BME in the sacroiliac joint and can be used as an alternative examination method for patients in whom MRI is contraindicated.

The gut microbiota-dependent metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) has recently been recognized to be one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, there is a scarcity of data on the relationship between circulating TMAO levels and hypertension in patients with CVD. Meta analysis and a dose-response relationship were used in this study to assess the relationship between circulating trimethylamine N-oxide levels and the risk of hypertension in patients with CVD. ⋯ In patients with CVD, the level of circulating TMAO is significantly related to the risk of hypertension. The risk of hypertension increased by 1.014% for every 1 μ mol/L increase in circulating TMAO levels.

Acupuncture and sleep disorders in Parkinson's disease: A systematic evaluation with meta-analysis.
Parkinson's disease (PD) patients commonly suffer from sleep disorders, significantly impacting their quality of life. Western treatments often entail adverse effects, while acupuncture (ACU) presents a safe, nonaddictive alternative. ⋯ ACU therapy effectively improves nighttime sleep quality in PD patients. A treatment duration extending beyond 6 weeks is highly recommended. Additionally, increasing the frequency of ACU sessions and incorporating electroacupuncture in the treatment regimen may be essential for optimal results.

Lupus nephritis (LN) is a complication of systemic lupus erythematosus and a damaging disease of the kidney. The injury of LN in children is more serious than that in adults. However, the literature in this field is numerous and complex, which brings great challenges for researchers to extract information. ⋯ The keyword burst showed the earliest and longest burst was antiphospholipid antibody, validation/risk/rituximab/safety is the current research hotspot. The article with the highest number of citations was Hochberg MC 1997 published in Arthritis Rheum. This study provides valuable information summary for the field of LN in children, which is helpful to strengthen the cooperation among countries, institutions and authors, and promote the research in the field of LN in children.
