Randomized Controlled Trial
Trial of Beremagene Geperpavec (B-VEC) for Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa.
Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa is a rare genetic blistering skin disease caused by mutations in COL7A1, which encodes type VII collagen (C7). Beremagene geperpavec (B-VEC) is a topical investigational herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1)-based gene therapy designed to restore C7 protein by delivering COL7A1. ⋯ Complete wound healing at 3 and 6 months in patients with dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa was more likely with topical administration of B-VEC than with placebo. Pruritus and mild systemic side effects were observed in patients treated with B-VEC. Longer and larger trials are warranted to determine the durability and side effects of B-VEC for this disease. (Funded by Krystal Biotech; GEM-3 ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT04491604.).

Case Reports
Thymoma with systemic lupus erythematosus and immune-related anemia: A case of thymoma with SLE and IRA.
Thymic epithelial tumors (TETs), including thymomas and thymic carcinomas. Thymomas are rare tumors, but are one of the most common mediastinal neoplasms in adults. The pathology of thymoma with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and severe pancytopenia is rarely reported. Thus, the current study demonstrates a case of thymoma with SLE and immune-related anemia with unique clinical manifestation. ⋯ we present the diagnosis and treatment of a case of thymoma with SLE and immune-related anemia, and provides references for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of thymoma combined with SLE, and attempts to explain that SLE patients with thymoma may contribute to the clinical remission of SLE after thymoma resection. It should arouse the attention of clinicians when diagnosing and treating related diseases.

Traditional Chinese Exercises (Qigong therapy) are more and more popular for chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) patients for the treatment and rehabilitation, however, the comparative effectiveness and safety remains unclear. Our study aims to compare the pros and cons of these exercise interventions for COPD by implementing a network meta-analysis. ⋯ The network meta-analysis was designed to update and expand on previous research results of clinical trials to better evaluate the effectiveness and safety of different interventions of traditional Chinese exercises for COPD.

Vitamin D might be beneficial in diabetic patients with ischemic heart disease through its favorable effect on metabolic profiles and biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress. We performed a protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis to assess whether vitamin D supplementation could improve glucose control and inflammation in type 2 diabetic patients with ischemic heart disease. ⋯ This systematic review may lead to several recommendations, for both patients and researchers, as which is the best therapy for type 2 diabetic patients with ischemic heart disease and how future studies need to be designed, considering what is available now and what is the reality of the patient.
