Multicenter StudyEpidemiological Trends of Pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Korea: A Multicenter Study of the Last 3 Years Including the COVID-19 Era.
Studies on how the coronavirus pandemic has affected pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) are lacking. We aimed to investigate the trends in epidemiology, characteristics, initial management, and short-term outcomes of PIBD in South Korea over the recent three years including the era of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ Regardless of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of patients with PIBD is increasing significantly annually in Korea. The initial management trends for PIBD have also changed. More research is needed to establish appropriate treatment guidelines considering the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of Korean PIBD.

Importance of the determination of enzymatic activity in the diagnosis of deficiency of adenosine deaminase 2 (DADA2).
To describe the usefulness of determining the enzymatic activity of adenosine deaminase 2 (ADA2) in patients with suspected ADA2 deficiency (DADA2). ⋯ The reduced enzymatic detection of ADA2 confirms the diagnosis of DADA2, particularly important in carriers of variants of uncertain significance in CECR1.

A randomized controlled trial on long-term effectiveness of a psychosocial aftercare program following pediatric chronic pain treatment: Who benefits the most?
For paediatric chronic pain patients, intensive interdisciplinary pain treatment (IIPT) is a well-established treatment. The treatment's short-term effectiveness can be improved by an additive psychosocial aftercare (PAC). However, neither the program's long-term effectiveness nor the patients in particular need have been investigated yet. ⋯ A psychosocial aftercare following paediatric IIPT leads to significantly better pain and emotional outcomes compared to treatment as usual up to 12 months after discharge, especially for patients with single parents.

Multicenter StudyAdherence to Pediatric Sepsis Treatment Recommendations at Emergency Departments: A Multicenter Study in Latin America.
Sepsis is one of the most urgent health care issues worldwide. Guidelines for early identification and treatment are essential to decrease sepsis-related mortality. Our aim was to collect data on the epidemiology of pediatric septic shock (PSS) from the emergency department (PED) and to assess adherence to recommendations for its management in the first hour. ⋯ We found poor adherence to the international recommendations for the treatment of PSS in the first hour at the PED in third-level hospitals in Latin America.

Noninvasive Ventilation Exposure Prior to Intubation in Pediatric Hematopoietic Cell Transplant Recipients.
Noninvasive ventilation (NIV) has become more studied in immunocompromised patients. However, it has not been studied in hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) recipients, who have higher mortality and higher pulmonary complication rates than other immunocompromised patients. This population may be prone to negative effects from this treatment modality. The aim of this study was to determine whether NIV use is associated with worse outcomes in this vulnerable patient population. ⋯ In this cohort of children post-HCT, NIV use prior to intubation was associated with worse outcomes. The benefits and risks of NIV in this patient population should be carefully evaluated prior to its use, and careful patient selection is crucial for its optimal utilization.
