Multicenter StudyReintervention rates after bioprosthetic pulmonary valve replacement in patients younger than 30 years of age: A multicenter analysis.
To assess the difference in time to and predictors of reintervention according to valve type in surgical bioprosthetic pulmonary valve replacement (PVR) in patients younger than 30 years of age from multiple centers. ⋯ In this large multicenter study, 8% of patients have undergone reintervention by 5 years. Importantly, independent of age and valve size, reintervention rates vary by valve type.

Unplanned and medical admissions to pediatric intensive care units significantly decreased during COVID-19 outbreak in Northern Italy.
Northern Italy has been the first European area affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and related social restrictive measures. We sought to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on PICU admissions in Northern Italy, using data from the Italian Network of Pediatric Intensive Care Units Registry. We included all patients admitted to 4 PICUs from 8-weeks-before to 8-weeks-after February 24th, 2020, and those admitted in the same period in 2019. ⋯ What is Known: • Northern Italy has been the first European area affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. • Although children are relatively spared from the severe COVID-19 disease, the pediatric care system has been affected by social restrictive measures, with a reported 73-88% reduction in pediatric emergency department admissions. What is New: • Unplanned and medical PICU admissions significantly decreased during the COVID-19 outbreak compared to pre-COVID-19 and to the same period in 2019, especially those for respiratory failure. Further studies are needed to identify associated factors and new prevention strategies.

To understand the feasibility, utilization rate, and satisfaction of the first Virtual Pediatric ED (V-PED) in Canada. ⋯ Our novel V-PED is feasible, has high caregiver satisfaction, and can reduce the burden of in-person ED visits. Future work must ensure the safety of emergency virtual care and examine how to increase capacity and integrate V-PED within traditional emergency medicine.

Multicenter StudyA National US Survey of Pediatric Emergency Department Coronavirus Pandemic Preparedness.
We aim to describe the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) preparedness efforts among a diverse set of pediatric emergency departments (PEDs) within the United States. ⋯ This national survey provides insight into PED preparedness efforts, training innovations, and practice changes implemented during the start of COVID-19 pandemic. Pediatric emergency departments implemented broad strategies including modifications to staffing, workflow, and clinical practice while using video/teleconference and simulation as preferred training modalities. Further research is needed to advance the level of preparedness and support deep learning about which preparedness actions were effective for future pandemics.

Microcoil localization as an effective adjunct to thoracoscopic resection of pulmonary nodules in children.
Thoracoscopic excision of pulmonary nodules is often required for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes, however subpleural and sub-centimeter nodules can be difficult to visualize. Various CT-guided localization techniques have been described, though there is minimal published pediatric data regarding the use of microcoils. We hypothesize that microcoil localization facilitates thoracoscopic resection of pulmonary nodules in children. ⋯ Level III.
