The Effect of Brief Warming during Induction of General Anesthesia and Warmed Intravenous Fluid on Intraoperative Hypothermia in Patients Undergoing Urologic Surgery.
Background and Objectives: Transurethral urologic surgeries frequently lead to hypothermia due to bladder irrigation. Prewarming in the preoperative holding area can reduce the risk of hypothermia but disrupts surgical workflow, preventing it from being of practical use. This study explored whether early intraoperative warming during induction of anesthesia, known as peri-induction warming, using a forced-air warming device combined with warmed intravenous fluid could prevent intraoperative hypothermia. ⋯ The peri-induction warming group also reported higher thermal comfort scores (p = 0.041) and less need for postoperative warming (p = 0.034) compared to the control group. Conclusions: Brief peri-induction warming combined with warmed intravenous fluid was insufficient to prevent intraoperative hypothermia in patients undergoing urologic surgery. However, it improved patient thermal comfort and mitigated the absolute amount and rate of temperature drop.

Comparison of the Efficacy of HSK3486 and Propofol for Induction of General Anesthesia in Adults: A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind, Controlled, Phase 3 Noninferiority Trial.
Propofol is an intravenous anesthetic associated with hypotension, respiratory depression, and injection-site pain. HSK3486 injectable emulsion (ciprofol) is a 2,6-disubstituted phenol derivative with fast onset and quick, stable recovery. Previous studies support HSK3486 as an effective, safe anesthetic with substantially less injection-site pain than propofol. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the noninferiority of HSK3486 compared with propofol in successful general anesthesia induction. ⋯ The study met its primary objective and endpoint, demonstrating noninferiority of HSK3486 compared with propofol in successful anesthetic induction. Substantially less injection-site pain was associated with HSK3486 than with propofol.

Long-term outcomes with spinal versus general anesthesia for hip fracture surgery: A randomized trial.
The effects of spinal versus general anesthesia on long-term outcomes have not been well studied. This study tested the hypothesis that spinal anesthesia is associated with better long-term survival and functional recovery than general anesthesia. ⋯ Long-term outcomes were similar with spinal versus general anesthesia.

Goal-directed Perioperative Albumin Substitution Versus Standard of Care to Reduce Postoperative Complications - A Randomized Clinical Trial (SuperAdd Trial).
To investigate whether goal-directed albumin substitution during surgery and postanesthesia care to maintain a serum albumin concentration >30 g/L can reduce postoperative complications. ⋯ Maintaining serum albumin concentration of >30 g/L perioperatively cannot generally be recommended in high-risk noncardiac surgery patients.

Comparison of pressure controlled, volume controlled, and volume guaranteed pressure controlled modes in prone position in patients operated for lumbar disc herniation: A randomized trial.
To compare pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV), volume-controlled ventilation (VCV), and pressure-controlled ventilation-volume guaranteed (PCV-VG) modes in patients undergoing spinal surgery in the prone position under general anesthesia. ⋯ PCV-VG provides lower Ppeak and Pplato values, as well as better Cdyn, oxygenation values compared to PCV and VCV. So that PCV-VG may be an effective alternative mode of mechanical ventilation for patients in the prone position during lumbar spine surgery.
