Partial or complete deficiency of anterior or posterior pituitary hormone production leads to central hypoadrenalism, central hypothyroidism, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, growth hormone deficiency, or arginine vasopressin deficiency depending on the hormones affected. Hypopituitarism is rare and likely to be underdiagnosed, with an unknown but rising incidence and prevalence. The most common cause is compressive growth or ablation of a pituitary or hypothalamic mass. ⋯ Treatment is aimed at replacement of deficient hormones. Increased mortality might persist despite treatment, particularly in younger patients, females, and those with arginine vasopressin deficiency. Patients with complex diagnoses, pregnant patients, and adolescent pituitary-deficient patients transitioning to adulthood should ideally be managed at a pituitary tumour centre of excellence.

ReviewA systematic review of culturally adapted physical activity interventions for culturally and linguistically diverse children and adolescents.
Limited evidence shows culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) children and adolescents are less active, compared to the general population. It is unclear, how physical activity interventions have been adapted for CALD children and adolescents to enhance engagement. This study aimed to review culturally adapted physical activity interventions targeting CALD children and adolescents. ⋯ A small number of studies found significant changes to increase physical activity levels. We found there is a lack of consistent evidence indicating that incorporating surface and/or deep structure adaptations result in significant changes in physical activity. Future research should focus on establishing higher quality methodology when developing culturally adapted interventions for CALD populations.

Research reveals that 1% of neoplasms in females under 17 years of age are ovarian neoplasms and though usually benign, malignant tumors may occur in the pediatric age group. This review considers various current concepts of these tumors including the epidemiology, risk factors, clinical presentations, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment options including the need to provide fertility-sparing surgery as well as their potential impacts on the psychological well-being of children and adolescents. ⋯ We focused on the articles published in English between January 1, 2000, and August 31, 2023. Only a few articles published prior to 2000 were included for historical perspective.

China is home to the second largest population of children and adolescents in the world. Yet demographic shifts mean that the government must manage the challenge of fewer children with the needs of an ageing population, while considering the delicate tension between economic growth and environmental sustainability. We mapped the health problems and risks of contemporary school-aged children and adolescents in China against current national health policies. ⋯ We identified a mismatch between current health determinants, risks and outcomes, and government policies. To promote the health of children and adolescents in China, we recommend a set of strategies that target government-led initiatives across the health, education, and community sectors, which aim to build supportive and responsive families, safe communities, and engaging and respectful learning environments. Chronic pain in children and adolescents (CPCA) is widespread with an increasing prevalence. It is associated with a decreased quality of life and an increased parental work loss. Accordingly, CPCA may pose a substantial economic burden for patients, health care payers, and society. Therefore, this systematic review aimed to synthesize (1) the results of existing cost-of-illness studies (COIs) for CPCA and (2) the evidence of economic evaluations (EEs) of interventions for CPCA. ⋯ The methodology across studies was heterogeneous limiting the comparability. However, it is concluded that CPCA is associated with high overall costs, which were reduced in all EEs. From a health-economic perspective, efforts should address the prevention and early detection of CPCA followed by specialized pain treatment.
