Patients' Experiences With Opioid Tapering in Noncancer Pain: A Systematic Review and Meta-synthesis.
Tapering opioids is an effective strategy to reduce the risks associated with long-term opioid therapy. However, patients' experience with tapering can influence the success of this treatment. Understanding patients' experiences with opioid tapering will allow for patient-centered approaches to be adopted to tailor interventions to achieve safe and successful taper outcomes. ⋯ Three key themes guiding the new meta-synthesis were identified: (1) patient-provider interactions, (2) individualized care, and (3) tactics to manage the opioid tapering process. This review demonstrated the role that patient-provider interactions, tailored care, and effective tapering strategies play in facilitating a favorable patient experience during the opioid tapering process. Future research should incorporate the themes identified in this review to optimize the patient's taper experience.

Limited information is available regarding the clinical features and outcomes of advanced human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in Taiwan, despite expanding treatment options for this distinct subtype. The present study explored the clinical features and outcomes of HER2-mutant NSCLC in a real-world setting. ⋯ This study highlights the clinical features and outcomes of advanced HER2-mutant NSCLC in Taiwan. PC + ICI may be more effective than other regimens as first-line therapy. The prognostic role of HER2 exon 20 insertion mutations warrants further investigation.

Concussions are a common form of mild traumatic brain injury characterized by a transient alteration of cerebral function leading to a range of physical, cognitive, and emotional symptoms. Postconcussive symptoms (PCSs) usually resolve in about a week but can persist in 10% to 15% of patients. If left untreated, PCS can profoundly affect a patient's life. ⋯ The OMT techniques applied during treatment included balanced ligamentous tension, myofascial release, and osteopathy in the cranial field techniques. OMT is a nonpharmacological, noninvasive treatment that can benefit patients suffering with PCS. The authors would like to increase the awareness of clinicians and researchers for OMT's potential positive outcomes for PCS, as part of a multifactorial approach to care.

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common cause of back and leg pain. Diagnosis relies on clinical history, physical exam, and imaging, with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) being an important reference standard. While artificial intelligence (AI) has been explored for MRI image recognition in LDH, existing methods often focus solely on disc herniation presence. ⋯ CNNs effectively assist specialists in initial LDH diagnosis and treatment decisions based on MRI images. This synergy between AI and human expertise improves diagnostic accuracy and efficiency, highlighting the value of AI-assisted diagnosis in clinical practice.
