A meta-analysis was performed to evaluate the effect of acupoint herbal patching as an add-on to asthma medication during Sanfu days, as the hottest days in summer, on the acute attack, immunological response, and the pulmonary function in asthmatic children. ⋯ Acupoint herbal patching as an add-on to asthma medication during Sanfu days had a significantly lower frequency of acute attack, lower asthma relapse, higher forced expiratory volume in 1 second, higher peak expiratory flow rate, and higher interferon-gamma after treatment in asthmatic children compared to asthma medication only in asthmatic children.

Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and β blockers are widely used in the treatment of Marfan syndrome to try to reduce the rate of progressive aortic root enlargement characteristic of this condition, but their separate and joint effects are uncertain. We aimed to determine these effects in a collaborative individual patient data meta-analysis of randomised trials of these treatments. ⋯ Marfan Foundation, the Oxford British Heart Foundation Centre for Research Excellence, and the UK Medical Research Council.

Endovascular and Medical Management of Cerebral Venous Thrombosis: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis.
Management of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) involves minimizing expansion of the thrombus and promoting the recanalization of the venous sinus. While current guidelines include indications of endovascular management and anticoagulation with heparin and warfarin, the use of direct-acting oral anticoagulants (DOACs) has increased. In this study, we aim to conduct a network meta-analysis comparing these 3 therapeutic options: standard anticoagulation, DOACs, and endovascular treatments (EVTs). ⋯ This network meta-analysis evaluates the outcomes in CVT treatment, comparing standard anticoagulation, DOACs, and EVT, with evidence that DOACs have similar outcomes to standard anticoagulation in the treatment of CVT. EVT resulted in an increased risk of overall mortality but improved 6-month recanalization rates.

Impact of endometrial scratching on reproductive outcome in patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Endometrial scratching (ES) has demonstrated initial success in women with recurrent implantation failure, but the effect in women with 1 previous assisted reproductive technology (ART) failure is unknown. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of ES as a treatment in clinical outcomes for women with at least 1 failed in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI)/Intrauterine Insemination (IUI). ⋯ Endometrial scratching is considered to enhance the reproductive outcomes of embryo implantation. Additional randomized controlled studies are recommended to identify the appropriate time of invasion and the applicable population to confirm whether it can become a routine operation.

Montessori based activity are supposed to be an effective nonpharmacological intervention in the treatment of agitation in western countries. However, most studies conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Montessori based activities on agitation in Asian patients were small sample size, as well as inconsistent outcomes, which may limit the reliability of the conclusions. The present pooled analysis, hence, was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the activity on agitation related with dementia in Asian patients with dementia. ⋯ Montessori based activities may reduce the frequency of agitation, especially in physical aggressive behaviors comparing to standard activities in Asian patients with dementia. However, the effectiveness of Montessori based activities on reduction of subcategorized agitated behaviors including physical nonaggressive behaviors, and verbal aggressive behaviors may not be reliable as physical aggressive behaviors.
