Review Meta Analysis
Injury incidence in golf-a systematic review and meta-analysis.
There is a lack of comprehensive analysis of injuries in golf per exposure time. Thus, the aim was to report the pooled incidence of injuries in golf. ⋯ The injury incidence in golf is 2.5 injuries per 1000 athlete exposures (18 holes of golf). Reporting was limited as only one study reported injuries per exposure time in professionals, and in total, only seven studies were found. More research is needed in all levels and age groups to better estimate the injury incidence and associated risk factors in golf.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) afflicts 69 million individuals annually, resulting in numerous neuropsychiatric sequelae. Here, we investigate the possible relation between TBI and depression. ⋯ Individuals suffering from TBI are almost twice as likely to develop depressive symptomology compared to non-TBI individuals.

Traumatic injury causes a significant number of deaths due to bleeding. Tranexamic acid (TXA), an antifibrinolytic agent, can reduce bleeding in traumatic injuries and potentially enhance outcomes. Previous reviews suggested potential TXA benefits but did not consider the latest trials. ⋯ This synthesis demonstrates that TXA use for trauma in emergencies leads to a reduction in 1-month mortality, with no significant evidence of problematic vascular occlusive events. Administering TXA in the out-of-hospital setting is associated with reduced mortality compared to inhospital administration, and less mortality with TXA in systemic trauma is noted compared with traumatic brain injury specifically.

Combat trauma can lead to widespread tissue damage and limb loss. This may result in chronic neuropathic and post amputation pain, including phantom limb pain (PLP) and residual limb pain (RLP). The military population is distinct with respect to demographic, injury, and social characteristics compared with other amputation and trauma cohorts. ⋯ Factors reported by included studies as being associated with PLP included the presence of RLP and psychological comorbidity. The prevalence of postamputation pain and chronic neuropathic pain after combat trauma is high. We highlight inconsistency of case definitions and terminology for pain and the need for consensus in future research of traumatic injury.

Protective role of melatonin for acute kidney injury: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Introduction : Acute kidney injury (AKI) is an important clinical issue that arouses global concerns, which puzzles clinicians and lacks effective drug treatment for AKI until the present. Melatonin has been well recognized to modulate the sleep-wake cycle and had the renal protective effect. However, there are still few clinical trials investigating the relationship between melatonin and AKI. ⋯ Melatonin tended to reduce the serum creatinine and urea nitrogen levels, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions : Melatonin can increase the estimated glomerular filtration rate and effectively inhibit the occurrence of AKI. More well-designed randomized controlled trials are needed to verify the protective effect of melatonin in the future.
