This is a multicenter retrospective review of 257 surgically treated consecutive ASD patients who had a minimum of five fused segments, completed a 2-year follow-up (53 ± 19 yrs, females: 236 [92%]). ⋯ In this multicenter study, in an Asian ASD patient cohort, the GAP score was not associated with the incidence of MF or revision surgery. Additional studies on the predictive ability of the GAP score in different patient cohorts are warranted.Level of Evidence: 3.

Postoperative outcomes in surgical COVID-19 patients: a multicenter cohort study.
Data on postoperative outcomes of the COVID-19 patient population is limited. We described COVID-19 patients who underwent a surgery and the pandemic impact on surgical activities. ⋯ In this Canadian cohort study, postoperative 30-day mortality in COVID-19 patients undergoing surgery was high (15.9%). Although few surgeries were performed on COVID-19 patients, the pandemic impact on surgical activity volume was important.

Accurate assessment of functional capacity, a predictor of postoperative morbidity and mortality, is essential to improving surgical planning and outcomes. We assessed if all 12 items of the Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) were equally important in reflecting exercise capacity. ⋯ The M-DASI provides a simple screening tool for further preoperative evaluation, including with cardiopulmonary exercise testing, to guide perioperative management.

Elective Cancer Surgery in COVID-19-Free Surgical Pathways During the SARS-CoV-2 Pandemic: An International, Multicenter, Comparative Cohort Study.
As cancer surgery restarts after the first COVID-19 wave, health care providers urgently require data to determine where elective surgery is best performed. This study aimed to determine whether COVID-19-free surgical pathways were associated with lower postoperative pulmonary complication rates compared with hospitals with no defined pathway. ⋯ Within available resources, dedicated COVID-19-free surgical pathways should be established to provide safe elective cancer surgery during current and before future SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks.

Perioperative Morbidity and Mortality of Patients With COVID-19 Who Undergo Urgent and Emergent Surgical Procedures.
To evaluate the perioperative morbidity and mortality of patients with COVID-19 who undergo urgent and emergent surgery. ⋯ COVID-19 is associated with an increased risk for serious perioperative morbidity and mortality. A substantial number of patients with COVID-19 are not identified until after surgery.
