Multicenter StudyUnderweight is associated with inferior short and long-term outcomes after MitraClip implantation: Results from the German TRAnscatheter mitral valve interventions (TRAMI) registry.
Underweight and obesity represent classical risk factors for adverse outcome in patients treated for cardiovascular disease. ⋯ Compared to other weight groups, underweight patients undergoing MitraClip implantation are exposed to increased rates of procedural failure, bleeding and low cardiac output as well as increased short- and long-term mortality rates and should therefore be carefully discussed in the heart-team.

Treatment Options for Hydrocephalus Following Foramen Magnum Decompression for Chiari I Malformation: A Multicenter Study.
New-onset hydrocephalus following foramen magnum decompression (FMD) for Chiari I malformation (CM-I) is rare; its natural history and pathophysiology are poorly understood. ⋯ Hydrocephalus following FMD for CM-I is uncommon, but important. Based on our series and literature review, its incidence is about 5% to 7% and most likely will require further surgery. Shunting appears to be the favored treatment option.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyHook-wire localization versus lipiodol localization for patients with pulmonary lesions having ground-glass opacity.
Accurate and safe preoperative localization is useful for video-assisted thoracic surgery of small pulmonary lesions with ground-glass opacity (GGO). However, the optimal localization method is unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the usefulness and safety of the lipiodol and hook-wire localization techniques for video-assisted thoracic surgery of GGO lesions. ⋯ There was no significant difference in success rate between the hook-wire and lipiodol methods. However, the hemorrhage rate was significantly greater in the hook-wire group, whereas the hook-wire group showed greater initially positive surgical resection margins.

Effect of acupuncture on hormone level in patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction after general anesthesia: A study protocol for a randomized controlled trial.
Postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction (PGD) refers to one of the common postoperative complications. Acupuncture can facilitate the recovery of PGD, whereas no therapeutic schedule of acupuncture has been internationally recognized for treating PGD. In the present study, a scientific trial protocol has been proposed to verify the feasibility of acupuncture in treating gastrointestinal dysfunction after laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia. We conduct this protocol to investigate whether acupuncture recovery gastrointestinal dysfunction by influencing the expression of gastrointestinal hormone. ⋯ A standardized and scientific clinical trial is conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for gastrointestinal dysfunction after laparoscopic cholecystectomy under general anesthesia. The aim is to objectively evidence and improves the clinical practice of acupoint prescription, as an attempt to promote the clinical application of this technology.
