A free webPOISONCONTROL app allows the public to determine the appropriate triage of poison ingestions without calling poison control. If accepted and safe, this alternative expands access to reliable poison control services to those who prefer the Internet over the telephone. This study assesses feasibility, safety, and user-acceptance of automated online triage of asymptomatic, nonsuicidal poison ingestion cases. ⋯ webPOISONCONTROL augments traditional poison control services by providing automated, accurate online access to case-specific triage and first aid guidance for poison ingestions. It is safe, quick, and easy to use.

Multicenter StudyTrends in analgesic exposures reported to Texas Poison Centers following increased regulation of hydrocodone.
In October 2014, the Drug Enforcement Administration reclassified hydrocodone to schedule II, increasing regulations on use. The impact of rescheduling hydrocodone on opioid exposures is unclear, especially in states with special restrictions required for prescribing schedule II agents. ⋯ The increased regulation was temporally associated with decreased hydrocodone exposures reported to Texas Poison Centers.

Multicenter StudyDemographics and outcome of unintentional insulin overdoses managed by three poison centers.
Insulin dosing errors are one of the most dangerous medication issues due to the risk of profound hypoglycemia. The incidence of insulin dosing errors is increasing and there is no standard of care for management location. ⋯ Insulin dosing accidents can be routinely managed at home by PCs and have a low rate of hypoglycemia and adverse outcomes. This suggests that these cases can often be managed at home without referral with a potential benefit in no direct cost to the patient, convenience, and immediacy.

Multicenter StudyRole of a poison center in reducing unintentional childhood ingestion by targeting pre-event risk factors.
Unintentional poisoning is a frequent presentation in the pediatric emergency care settings. We sought to determine the current incidence of unintentional poison ingestions in children who present to the emergency care in the city of Al Ain in United Arab Emirates, to create a profile of the products ingested, and to compare our data with a previous study conducted before the inception of a poison and drug information center. ⋯ The incidence of unintentional pediatric poisoning in the UAE is decreasing particularly in household chemical ingestions. Targeted health promotion campaigns by the poison center may have led to this drop. The sociological, environmental, and cultural factors that might be contributing to the greater use of emergency care in native children should be investigated.

Multicenter Study Comparative StudyAdolescent synthetic cannabinoid exposures reported to Texas poison centers.
This study describes the pattern of adolescent synthetic cannabinoid exposures reported to a large statewide poison center system. ⋯ Adolescent synthetic cannabinoid exposures reported to Texas poison centers were more likely to involve inhalation. The adolescents were more likely to be male. The exposures more often occurred at the patient's own residence and managed at a health care facility with a serious outcome. This pattern of exposures was similar to that observed among adults.
