This systematic literature review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) of the sacroiliac joint. Bone marrow edema (BME) of the sacroiliac joint is an early manifestation of some diseases, such as ankylosing spondylitis, and is usually examined by nuclear magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); however, MRI can be intolerable for some patients; hence, numerous studies have analyzed DECT examinations. ⋯ DECT appears to be a promising diagnostic tool for detecting BME in the sacroiliac joint and can be used as an alternative examination method for patients in whom MRI is contraindicated.

Meta AnalysisDiagnostic Accuracy of Procalcitonin in Bacterial Infections of the CNS: An Updated Systematic Review, Meta-Analysis, and Meta-Regression.
To evaluate diagnostic accuracy of serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) procalcitonin for diagnosing CNS bacterial infections. ⋯ In children and critical post-neurosurgical patients, CSF procalcitonin gains superior sensitivity and specificity compared with serum procalcitonin. Overall, CSF procalcitonin appears to have a higher pooled positive likelihood ratio compared with serum procalcitonin.

Screening and diagnostic tools for autism spectrum disorder: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder, with main manifestations related to communication, social interaction, and behavioral patterns. The slight dynamics of change in the child over time require that the onset of clinical manifestations presented by the child be more valued, with the aim of stabilizing the condition. Faced with a variety of methods for diagnosing ASD, the question arises as to which method should be used. This systematic review aims to recommend the best tools to perform screening and diagnosis. ⋯ It is mandatory to apply a screening test, the most recommended being the M-CHAT-R/F. For diagnosis CARS and ADOS are the most recommended tools.

Review Meta AnalysisConfirming identification of the epidural space: a systematic review of electric stimulation, pressure waveform analysis, and ultrasound and a meta-analysis of diagnostic accuracy in acute pain.
To review the use of epidural electric stimulation test, pressure waveform analysis, and ultrasound assessment of injection as bedside methods for confirming identification of the epidural space in adults with acute pain, the PubMed database was searched for relevant reports between May and August 2022. Studies reporting diagnostic accuracy with conventional Touhy needles and epidural catheters were further selected for meta-analysis. Sensitivity and specificity were estimated using univariate logistic regression for electric stimulation and pressure analysis, and pooling of similar studies for ultrasound. ⋯ Risk of bias was significant and accuracy estimates must be interpreted with caution. Electric stimulation and pressure waveform analysis seem clinically useful, although they must be interpreted cautiously. In the future, clinical trials in patients with difficult anatomy will likely be most useful. Ultrasound requires further investigation.

The timely identification of patients at risk of acute kidney injury (AKI), along with early prevention, real-time monitoring, and prompt intervention, plays a crucial role in enhancing patient prognosis after major surgery. ⋯ The biomarker of s-CysC has the highest HSROC value to predicting acute kidney injury after major surgery in meta-analysis and relatively higher specificity in network meta-analyses. u-KIM-1 exhibited relatively higher sensitivity, with best diagnostic accuracy in the OU and retrospective group in the subgroup analysis.
