Efficacy and safety of tranexamic acid in acute traumatic brain injury: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Tranexamic acid (TXA) holds a pivotal role in the therapeutic approach to traumatic conditions. Nevertheless, its precise influence on diminishing mortality and limiting the progression of intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) during the treatment of traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains indeterminate. ⋯ TXA did not elevate the risk of adverse event, however, the lack of reduction in mortality and the poor clinical outcomes constrain the value of clinical application. Early administration of TXA (within 3 h) may significantly decrease the likelihood of ICH growth in patients with TBI.

Meta Analysis Comparative StudyComparison of Different Treatments of Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis.
Persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is a life-threatening disease. Despite being considered the gold standard treatment scheme, inhaled nitric oxide (iNO) is not readily available in settings with limited resources. Therefore, in recent years, research on related drugs is being actively pursued. Herein, we aimed to use random-effects network meta-analysis to evaluate the efficacy and associated mortality of different PPHN therapies. ⋯ MNO + OSID is the most effective PPHN treatment. If iNO is not available, OSID + milrinone is preferred.

Associations of Testosterone and Related Hormones With All-Cause and Cardiovascular Mortality and Incident Cardiovascular Disease in Men : Individual Participant Data Meta-analyses.
Whether circulating sex hormones modulate mortality and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in aging men is controversial. ⋯ Medical Research Future Fund, Government of Western Australia, and Lawley Pharmaceuticals. (PROSPERO: CRD42019139668).

Endovascular therapy for posterior cerebral artery occlusion: systematic review with meta-analysis.
Endovascular therapy (EVT) is a highly effective stroke treatment, but trials validating this intervention did not include patients with posterior cerebral artery (PCA) occlusion. The aim of this systematic review with meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy and safety of EVT for acute PCA occlusion. PubMed, Scopus, ISI, and CENTRAL were searched for studies assessing EVT in adult patients with PCA occlusion. ⋯ EVT for acute PCA occlusion is technically feasible but associated with higher chance of sICH. There is no evidence to support this treatment to achieve higher rates of functional independence, but other gains that can impact patients' quality of life cannot be excluded. More studies are required with robust design, better patient selection, and comprehensive outcome evaluation.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyIntubation Decision Based on Illness Severity and Mortality in COVID-19: An International Study.
To evaluate the impact of intubation timing, guided by severity criteria, on mortality in critically ill COVID-19 patients, amidst existing uncertainties regarding optimal intubation practices. ⋯ In severe COVID-19 cases, an early intubation strategy, guided by specific severity criteria, is associated with a reduced risk of death. These findings underscore the importance of timely intervention based on objective severity assessments.
