Review[Lung ultrasound for the diagnosis and follow-up of pneumonia].
Fast and accurate diagnostic of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is of vital importance. Chest X-ray is currently the most used image modality for the diagnosis of CAP. ⋯ LUS is better at detecting and diagnosing complications to CAP. This narrative review gives an update on the literature and describes a practical approach to the use of LUS for the diagnosis and follow-up of CAP.

The role of physicians' shift work in adverse events causing patient harm is not clear. However, extended shifts reduce psychomotor performance and cognition in daytime after a 24-hour shift. The incidence and preventability of adverse events in Denmark are comparable to other Western countries, despite the fact that Danish physicians do not work extended hours. The role of physicians' shift work in adverse events causing patient harm remains controversial and further research is needed.

Review[Stress and burnout increase among general practitioners in Denmark].
Burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and reduced personal accomplishment. In agreement with international studies, Danish figures have revealed an increase in prevalence of severe burnout from 2.8% in 2004 to 5.3% in 2012. There is only little research on the consequences for the burned-out general practitioner (GP) and his patients as well as on appropriate intervention strategies. Even though burnout appears to be caused by a combination of personality factors and environmental conditions, the literature has one-sidedly focused on the resilience of the individual GP.

The purpose of this article was to review the existing evidence on emergency treatment of chemical eye burns. Clinical studies show that patients receiving prompt eye irrigation after chemical burns had a significantly better clinical outcome. ⋯ Two of three studies showed that tap water significantly lowered pH as well, but only if it was administered within 60 seconds after exposure. Saline, however, did not cause any significant decrease in pH at all.

Review[The perioperative management of myasthenia gravis patients].
Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a disease affecting the acetylcholine receptor in the neuromuscular junction. Symptoms of MG are muscle weakness and fatigue. ⋯ Most anaesthetic drugs are well tolerated by MG patients, but benzodiazepines and opiates may only be used with caution. For neuromuscular blockade rocuronium seems to be the best choice as it can be antagonized with sugammadex at end of the surgical procedure.
