The association between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and glucose metabolism remains controversial. This study investigates the relationship between OSA and incident type 2 diabetes (DM) and prediabetes (preDM), as well as the effect of long-term CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) treatment. ⋯ Patients with OSA have a higher risk of developing DM. The risk factors involved are BMI, nocturnal hypoxia and AHI. Regular long-term CPAP use was associated with a decreased risk.

Minimally invasive offloading osteotomy in the treatment of diabetic foot ulcer: Analysis of 25 patients.
Diabetes mellitus and its complications are one of the main burdensome health problems at the present time. The diabetic foot is one of the most characteristic complications. ⋯ Minimally invasive offloading osteotomy is a technically simple intervention, which presents a high success rate with minimal complications in our series.
