Prognosis of acute heart failure in patients followed up in nursing homes in Spain: Results from the RICA registry.
Patients with chronic diseases such as heart failure (HF) are at risk of hospital admission. We evaluated the impact of living in nursing homes (NH) on readmissions and all-cause mortality of HF patients during a one-year follow up. ⋯ Nursing home residents with heart failure showed higher one-year mortality which could be due to worse functional status, higher comorbidity, and cognitive deterioration.

Impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with cardiac amyloidosis: Results of a multicentre registry.
Descriptions on impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients with cardiac amyloidosis (CA) are lacking. Our aim was to describe the prognosis of those patients. ⋯ SARS-CoV-2 infection is associated with high mortality and hospitalization rates in patients with CA, which exceed that expected by their sex and advanced age.

Risk factors for drug-resistant epilepsy in adult patients.
Drug-resistant epilepsy occurs in about 30% of epilepsy patients. It has been suggested that etiology or seizure type would increase the risk of pharmacoresistance. This study aims to compare the characteristics of patients with drug-sensitive epilepsy with patients with drug-resistant epilepsy to identify risk factors. ⋯ Following other studies, we observed that factors such as epilepsy type, seizure type, structural etiology, abnormal MRI, and febrile seizure increased the risk for drug-resistance epilepsy, in our population.

Triponderal mass index and markers of metabolic risk in children and adolescents with obesity.
Triponderal mass index (TMI) would estimate excess adiposity better than body mass index (BMI), maintaining stable values during childhood. This work aims to determine the correlation between TMI and markers of metabolic risk as well as set values of TMI that are related to an increase of metabolic risk. ⋯ TMI was correlated with increase of abdominal circumference, insulin and HOMA index and decrease of HDL-c. IMT>20kg/m3 can be associated with increased insulin and decreased HDL-c. Therefore, the IMT seems to be a useful parameter in the assessment of pediatric patients with obesity.

Prevalence of autoimmune diseases in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. DIACAM 1 study 2010-2020.
To evaluate the prevalence of autoimmune diseases (AD) associated with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM). ⋯ After 10 years of follow-up, there is a substantial increase in other types of AE in patients with DM1. It seems necessary to carry out a systematic screening of these AD to optimize the follow-up of patients with 1 TDM, mainly of the ATD.
