Nutritional intervention in chronic heart failure patients: A randomized controlled clinical trial.
Malnutrition is common in patients with heart failure (HF) and is associated with poor prognosis. We evaluated the prognostic and clinical impact of a nutritional intervention in malnourished patients with chronic HF. ⋯ In patients with chronic HF and some degree of malnutrition, individualized nutritional intervention may reduce the risk of all-cause mortality or HF hospitalisations and improve nutritional status and functional capacity. These results underline the need for further randomized controlled trials with this approach to confirm the potential prognostic benefit.

Effect of empagliflozin in peripheral diabetic neuropathy of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is the most dominant cause of neuropathy worldwide, and there has been no specific treatment until now. The aim of the current study was to assess the probable protective effect of empagliflozin in type 2 diabetics who are suffering from DPN. ⋯ Empagliflozin may be a promising neuroprotective and therapeutic agent for diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Trial registration Identifier: NCT05977465.

Use of antidepressants in the treatment of chronic orofacial pain caused by temporomandibular disorders: A randomized controlled clinical trial.
Temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) are a common pathology, associated with pain in the facial territory and with associated psychological disorders, such as anxiety and depression. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of antidepressants in the treatment of pain associated with TMD. ⋯ Low doses of amitriptyline appear to be a good therapeutic option in patients with TMDs suffering from chronic orofacial pain.

Effects of a low-pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy on psychological constructs related to pain and quality of life in women with fibromyalgia: A randomized clinical trial.
Self-reported psychological variables related to pain have been posited as the major contributors to the quality of life of fibromyalgia (FM) women and should be considered when implementing therapeutic strategies among this population. The aim of this study was to explore the effect of low-pressure hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on psychological constructs related to pain (i.e., pain catastrophism, pain acceptance, pain inflexibility, mental defeat) and quality of life in women with FM. ⋯ HBOT is effective at improving the psychological constructs related to pain (i.e. pain catastrophism, pain acceptance, pain flexibility, mental defeat) and quality of life among women with FM. Clinical Trial Link Clinical Trials gov identifier (NCT03801109).

Diabetes and obstructive sleep apnoea: A case-control study.
Obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are very prevalent diseases frequently associated. Their coexistence is independently associated with an increased prevalence of cardiovascular comorbidities. As this association is underdiagnosed, it is necessary to optimise clinical suspicion by studying independent predictors of DM or prediabetes (preDM) in patients with OSA. ⋯ OSA is associated with DM and preDM. Age, nocturnal hypoxaemia and EDS are predictors of DM. BMI and AHI are predictors of pre-MD.
