In-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) has a low survival rate, so it is essential to recognize the cases with the highest probability of developing it. The aim of this study is to identify factors associated with the occurrence of IHCA. ⋯ In admitted patients for non-cardiovascular causes, the use of drugs with a known risk of torsades de pointes, as well as the detection of electrical LVH and atrial fibrillation in the initial electrocardiogram, is independently associated with a higher probability of suffering a IHCA.

Royal Decree 888/2022 establishes that the evaluation of disability situations is carried out by multiprofessional teams responsible for assessing and recognizing the degree of disability. The participation of professionals in the healthcare and social fields can be valuable in providing reports from which the necessary data for the proper assessment of disability can be obtained, with the ultimate goal of providing comprehensive assistance to people with disabilities. ⋯ The pathology that causes the disability must have been previously diagnosed by the Healthcare System and considered permanent. Its evaluation is based on the evidence of objective clinical findings that are documented and supported by clinical reports. For this reason, it is important to maintain an accurate medical history, document reviews, and provide all relevant evidence.

Transthyretin-related amyloidosis (ATTRv) is a progressive multisystem disorder, predominantly involving the peripheral nerve system (PNS) and heart. Quantification of small fiber damage may help guide treatment decisions, as amyloid deposits frequently affect those fibers early in disease course. Corneal confocal microscopy (CCM) is a promising method to monitor patients with ATTRv, due to similarities between corneal nerves and PNS, as the cornea is innervated by Aδ and C fibers. ⋯ In a diverse cohort of ATTRv patients, CCM was the most frequent abnormal measurement. CCM can be a useful test to triage patients in the early disease stages and with few or equivocal symptoms.
