An alternative treatment option in older adults with knee osteoarthritis : Genicular nerve pulsed radiofrequency.
Osteoarthritis (OA), including knee OA (KOA), is an important cause of morbidity and disability in older adults. Pain management plays a major role in the treatment of KOA for pain relief and knee function improvement. Ultrasound-guided genicular nerve pulsed radiofrequency therapy is an effective, safe, nonradiative, and easily applicable treatment modality in older adults with KOA. It has a positive effect on geriatric syndromes, especially polypharmacy.

Review Case ReportsA rare Serratia marcescens-associated acute endocarditis of a tricuspid valve in an intravenous drug user : A case report and literature review.
Serratia marcescens is a gram-negative bacillus that is an opportunistic agent in respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and septicemia. It is rarely also a cause of infective endocarditis which follows a rapid and devastating course, typically in persons with history of intravenous drug use (IDU). This article reports a fatal case of a 27-year-old patient with a known history of IDU, who presented with clinical symptoms concerning right-sided endocarditis as well as signs of acute respiratory distress syndrome. Finally, a detailed review of the literature is provided concerning the acute endocarditis of a tricuspid valve, especially associated with Serratia marcescens infection.

ReviewVibrio cholerae-An emerging pathogen in Austrian bathing waters?
Vibrio cholerae, an important human pathogen, is naturally occurring in specific aquatic ecosystems. With very few exceptions, only the cholera-toxigenic strains belonging to the serogroups O1 and O139 are responsible for severe cholera outbreaks with epidemic or pandemic potential. All other nontoxigenic, non-O1/non-O139 V. cholerae (NTVC) strains may cause various other diseases, such as mild to severe infections of the ears, of the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts as well as wound and bloodstream infections. ⋯ We present an overview of state of the art methods that are currently available for clinical and environmental diagnostics. A preliminary public health risk assessment concerning NTVC infections related to the Neusiedler See was established. In order to raise awareness of healthcare professionals for NTVC infections, typical symptoms, possible treatment options and the antibiotic resistance status of Austrian NTVC isolates are discussed.

Multicenter StudyIs the prognosis of traumatic critically ill pediatric patients predictable? : A multicenter retrospective analysis.
In this retrospective study the effects of the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte to lymphocyte ratio (MLR), mean platelet volume to platelet count ratio (MPV/PC) values as well as C‑reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) levels on the severity and mortality in critically ill child trauma cases were evaluated. ⋯ The NLR, MLR, and MPV/PC values do not predict the severity of the trauma in children. In children with severe trauma, low MLR and high MPV/PC values can be used to predict mortality.
