Meta AnalysisSusceptibility loci for sporadic brain arteriovenous malformation; a replication study and meta-analysis.
Case-control studies have reported multiple genetic loci to be associated with sporadic brain arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) but most of these have not been replicated in independent populations. The aim of this study was to find additional evidence for these reported associations and perform a meta-analysis including all previously published results. ⋯ The results of this study support a role for the previously identified SNP near ANGPTL4 in the pathogenesis of AVMs. Previously found associations with SNPs near IL-1β, GPR124, VEGFA and MMP-3 genes could not be substantiated in our replication cohort or in the meta-analysis.

Review Meta Analysis Comparative StudyAntipsychotic medications for the treatment of delirium: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
We performed an updated meta-analysis of antipsychotic treatment in patients with delirium, based on a previous meta-analysis published in 2007. ⋯ Our results suggested that SGAs have a benefit for the treatment of delirium with regard to efficacy and safety compared with haloperidol. However, further study using larger samples is required.

Review Meta AnalysisSafety and diagnostic value of brain biopsy in HIV patients: a case series and meta-analysis of 1209 patients.
Early brain biopsy may be indicated in HIV patients with focal brain lesion. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the safety and diagnostic value of brain biopsy in HIV patients in the pre-highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) versus post-HAART era via meta-analysis. Appropriate studies were identified per search criteria. ⋯ The median survival for HIV patients who underwent biopsy in the post-HAART era was 225 days (90-2446). Brain biopsy in HIV patients is safe with high diagnostic yield. Early brain biopsy should be considered in patients without classic presentation of toxoplasmosis encephalitis.

Review Meta AnalysisConstipation preceding Parkinson's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To systematically review published literature to estimate the magnitude of association between premorbid constipation and later diagnosis of Parkinson's disease. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrates that people with constipation are at a higher risk of developing Parkinson's disease compared with those without and that constipation can predate Parkinson's diagnosis by over a decade.
