Randomized Controlled TrialRandomised feasibility study of physiotherapy for patients with functional motor symptoms.
To determine the feasibility of conducting a randomised controlled trial of a specialist physiotherapy intervention for functional motor symptoms (FMS). ⋯ This feasibility study demonstrated high rates of recruitment, retention and acceptability. Clinical effect size was moderate to large with high probability of being cost-effective. A randomised controlled trial is needed.

Randomized Controlled TrialManagement of patients with functional neurological symptoms: a single-centre randomised controlled trial.
Is health-related quality of life 12 months after randomisation in participants with functional neurological symptoms better after discussion of the diagnosis by trained neurologists who schedule at least two follow-up visits (intervention group) than after the same discussion of the diagnosis by these neurologists and immediate referral to the general practitioner (control group)? ⋯ NTR 2570.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudySubcutaneous interferon β-1a in the treatment of clinically isolated syndromes: 3-year and 5-year results of the phase III dosing frequency-blind multicentre REFLEXION study.
Early treatment following a first clinical demyelinating event (FCDE) delays further disease activity in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). This study determined the effects of early versus delayed treatment (DT) with subcutaneous interferon (sc IFN) β-1a 44 μg in patients with an FCDE up to 60 months postrandomisation. ⋯ Over 5 years in patients presenting with an FCDE, early sc IFN β-1a tiw administration versus DT prolonged time to CDMS and McDonald MS, and reduced overall MRI activity.

Randomized Controlled TrialCognitive outcome after ventral capsule/ventral striatum stimulation for treatment-resistant major depression.
We report the neuropsychological outcome of 25 patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (TRD) who participated in an Institutional Review Board (IRB)-approved randomised double-blind trial comparing active to sham deep brain stimulation (DBS) in the anterior limb of the ventral capsule/ventral striatum (VC/VS). ⋯ These data suggest that VC/VS DBS in patients with TRD does not significantly affect neuropsychological function. Age at surgery, regardless of stimulation status, may be related to cognitive outcome at the individual patient level.

Randomized Controlled TrialPhase II randomised controlled trial of a 6-month self-managed community exercise programme for people with Parkinson's disease.
Evidence for longer term exercise delivery for people with Parkinson's disease (PwP) is deficient. ⋯ PwP exercised safely and the possible long-term benefits observed support a substantive evaluation of this community programme.
