Myofascial pain around an arteriovenous fistula (AVF) during hemodialysis (HD) can affect a patient compliance with HD and quality of life. Prolonged use of analgesics is often associated with increased adverse events. Juan Bi Tang (JBT) is an ancient decoction of Chinese traditional medicinal plants commonly used to treat spasms and pain in the shoulder and upper arm, and it is popularly believed to have favorable outcomes in Asian populations. ⋯ Participants reported improved physical (P < .01) and mental health (P < .05) after treatment. However, only improvements in mental health were preserved 2 weeks after the end of treatment (P < .05). In this study, complementary JBT for HD patients with fistula-related myofascial pain was viable and well tolerated, and it demonstrated the expected effects on pain control.

Meta Analysis
Association of noncoding RNAs with Kawasaki disease: A meta-analysis based on the current evidences.
In recent years, many studies have focused on the relationship between noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) and Kawasaki disease (KD). Studies have indicated that ncRNAs are associated with the occurrence and development of KD. Thus, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the diagnostic value of ncRNAs in KD patients. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis demonstrated that ncRNAs could be used as novel biomarkers for detecting KD. More studies should be conducted in the future to verify the diagnostic values of ncRNAs in KD.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study
A multicenter case-control study on postoperative intestinal fistula in Chinese patients with Crohn disease.
The aim of this study was to (1) assess the independent factors affecting patients with postoperative intestinal fistula from Crohn disease (CD) by analyzing preoperative clinical data, (2) establish a nomogram prediction model for this condition based on these factors, and (3) validate this model and evaluate its accuracy. In this retrospective multicenter case-control study, the clinical data of 240 patients with CD admitted for surgical treatment between September 2019 and September 2021 at 3 centers were collected. Patients were randomly divided into a training set (168 patients) and a validation set (72 patients). ⋯ Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, prognostic nutrition index, disease behavior, and Crohn disease activity index score were independent influencing factors. After assessing the validation set, the area under the curve was 0.899, indicating good predictive accuracy of the nomogram model. The prediction model developed in this study can effectively predict the risk of postoperative intestinal fistula.

This analysis aimed to explore the analgesic effects of quadratus lumborum block on acute and chronic postoperative pain among patients undergoing cesarean section. ⋯ The use of QLB for postoperative analgesia after cesarean section, particularly in the relief of acute postoperative pain, had been proven to significantly decrease the VAS score and morphine consumption within the first 24 hours after surgery. However, further studies are needed to determine its impact on managing chronic postoperative pain.

Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD) is a classic surgical method for diseases, such as tumors at the lower end of the common bile duct, pancreatic head, and benign and malignant tumors of the duodenum. Postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) is one of the most serious complications of LPD. To reduce the incidence of grade B or C POPF and other complications after LPD, we applied a split pancreatic duct stent combined with the characteristics of internal and external stent drainage. ⋯ The results showed that the average operation time was 294.2 ± 36 minutes, average time for pancreaticojejunostomy was 35.9 ± 4.1 minutes, and average estimated blood loss was 204.2 ± 58.2 mL. Biochemical leakage occurred in 2 patients (16.7%), whereas no grade B or C POPF, 1 case (8.3%) had postoperative bleeding, and no death occurred within 30 days after the operation. Preliminary experience shows that the split pancreatic duct stent can effectively reduce the incidence of complications after LPD, especially grade B or C POPF.
