In this cross-sectional magnetic resonance imaging study, vertebral rotation was measured in the transverse plane of the normal, nonscoliotic spine of persons with a complete mirror image reversal of the internal body organs, called situs inversus totalis. ⋯ The normal spine of humans with a situs inversus totalis shows a pre-existent pattern of vertebral rotation opposite of what is seen in humans with normal organ anatomy. This study shows a relation between the asymmetrical position of the thoracic organs and pre-existent vertebral rotation in the normal spine.

Pedicle screw pullout testing in osteoporotic and control human cadaveric vertebrae, comparing augmented and control vertebrae. ⋯ Pedicle screw augmentation with polymethyl methacrylate improves the initial fixation strength and fatigue strength of instrumentation in osteoporotic vertebrae. Pedicle screws augmented using the kyphoplasty technique had significantly greater pullout strength than those augmented with transpedicular augmentation technique and those placed in healthy control vertebrae with no augmentation.

Case report with review of literature. ⋯ Combination of scoliosis correction and tumor mass resection was a successful treatment for this kind of clinicopathological entity.

Level III retrospective case series with historical controls. ⋯ Serial arterial embolization is a useful primary treatment modality for large SGCTs given the favorable long-term results and potential morbidity of alternative treatments.
