Combined extraforaminal and intradiscal cement leakage following percutaneous vertebroplasty.
A case report and review of the literature are presented. ⋯ Although considered a minimally invasive procedure, percutaneous vertebroplasty with polymethylmethacrylate is not risk free. Intractable neurologic complications can occur if it is not performed by experienced physicians under appropriate indications and cautionary safeguards.

Narrative review. ⋯ Transparency in research methods and clear communication can avoid many of the described pitfalls in outcomes assessment, allowing researchers to advocate appropriately for improvement in patient care.

Review of the nature of conflicts of interest in physician-industry relationships, with a focus on the efforts to ethically manage physician-industry relationships. ⋯ Careful consideration of conflicts of interest in physician-industry relationships has provided an opportunity to review our goals as physicians in society, and to continue collaborative advancement of our field for the benefit of our patients.

Recurrent radiculopathy caused by epidural gas after spinal surgery: report of four cases and literature review.
The article presents and discusses 4 cases in which symptomatic epidural gas developed after different surgeries on the lumbar spine. ⋯ Epidural gas after lumbar surgery is very rare but can cause unexpected postoperative back or radicular pain. Combined computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging should be used to identify the problem and rule out other disorders. Conservative treatment should be the first-line approach but surgery is often necessary if this does not resolve the problem.
