A prospective, randomized, blinded, single-site study to evaluate the clinical and radiographic differences between frozen and freeze-dried allograft when used as part of a circumferential anterior lumbar interbody fusion procedure.
Prospective, randomized clinical trial from a single surgeon's patient population. ⋯ When the results are considered in terms of clinical outcomes, the 2 methods of graft preservation perform with few statistically significant differences. Radiographic analysis showed that the freeze-dried graft had a higher likelihood of pseudarthrosis.

What works best for whom? An exploratory, subgroup analysis in a randomized, controlled trial on the effectiveness of a workplace intervention in low back pain patients on return to work.
Exploratory subgroup analysis in a randomized controlled trial (RCT). ⋯ The findings from these exploratory analyses should be tested in future RCTs. This workplace intervention seems very suitable for return to work of older workers and workers with previous sick leave. Gender, perceived heavy work, and baseline scores in pain and functional status should not be a basis for assignment to this intervention.

A prospective randomized study of clinical outcomes in patients with cervical compressive myelopathy treated with open-door or French-door laminoplasty.
A prospective randomized clinical study. ⋯ Perioperative complications occurred more frequently in open-door laminoplasty than in French-door laminoplasty. JOA scores and recovery rates suggested that both open-door and French-door laminoplasties could be similarly effective in decompressing the spinal cord. Axial pain was improved in French-door laminoplasty but became worse in open-door laminoplasty. SF-36 suggested that French-door laminoplasty could be more beneficial than open-door laminoplasty for patients with cervical compressive myelopathy.

Effect of modified techniques in Bryan cervical disc arthroplasty.
A prospective, randomized study of the clinical and radiographic outcomes in patients undergoing single- and 2-level cervical arthroplasty with Bryan cervical disc (Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Memphis, TN). ⋯ The modified techniques can improve the outcomes of the cervical arthroplasty with Bryan disc and prevent the unexpected imbalance and motion of cervical spine.
