Randomized Controlled TrialEvaluation of low-dose CT angiography with model-based iterative reconstruction after endovascular aneurysm repair of a thoracic or abdominal aortic aneurysm.
The objective of our study was to evaluate image quality and overall adequacy of low-dose CT angiography (CTA) with model-based iterative reconstruction (MBIR) in patients who had undergone endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) of a thoracic or abdominal aortic aneurysm. ⋯ Low-dose CTA with MBIR enables up to 73% dose reduction as compared with CTA performed with ASIR while maintaining diagnostic adequacy for CTA surveillance of patients who have undergone EVAR of a thoracic or abdominal aortic aneurysm.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of dual-energy subtraction and electronic bone suppression combined with computer-aided detection on chest radiographs: effect on human observers' performance in nodule detection.
The objective of our study was to compare the effect of dual-energy subtraction and bone suppression software alone and in combination with computer-aided detection (CAD) on the performance of human observers in lung nodule detection. ⋯ Dual-energy subtraction and the electronic bone suppression program used in this study provided similar detection rates for pulmonary nodules. Additionally, CAD alone or combined with bone suppression can significantly improve the sensitivity of human observers for pulmonary nodule detection.

Randomized Controlled TrialIntraarticular local anesthesia: can it reduce pain related to MR or CT arthrography of the shoulder?
The objective of this study was to prospectively evaluate whether intraarticular anesthesia can reduce pain after MR or CT arthrography of the shoulder. ⋯ Intraarticular local anesthesia did not reduce arthrography-related pain.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyProspective randomized comparison of standard didactic lecture versus high-fidelity simulation for radiology resident contrast reaction management training.
The objective of our study was to assess whether high-fidelity simulation-based training is more effective than traditional didactic lecture to train radiology residents in the management of contrast reactions. ⋯ When compared with didactic lecture, high-fidelity simulation-based training of contrast reaction management shows equal results on written test scores but improved performance during a high-fidelity severe contrast reaction simulation scenario.

Randomized Controlled TrialLongitudinal evaluation of cartilage composition of matrix-associated autologous chondrocyte transplants with 3-T delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage.
The purposes of this study were to use delayed gadolinium-enhanced MRI of cartilage (dGEMRIC) to evaluate the zonal distribution of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in normal cartilage and repair tissue and to use 3-T MRI to monitor the GAG content in matrix-associated autologous chondrocyte transplants. ⋯ T1 mapping with dGEMRIC at 3 T shows the zonal structure of normal hyaline cartilage, highly reduced zonal variations in repair tissue, and a tendency toward an increase in global and zonal GAG content 1 year after transplantation.
