Randomized Controlled Trial[Effect of ephedrine on the intubation conditions using rocuronium versus succinylcholine].
The goal of this study was to determine if ephedrine could improve intubating conditions when it is administered before the muscle relaxant (rocuronium and succinylcholine). ⋯ Use of ephedrine 30 seconds before induction with propofol, fentanyl followed by rocuronium or succinylcholine provides faster good conditions of intubation.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Daily interruption of sedation in intensive care unit patients with renal impairment: remifentanil-midazolam compared to fentanyl-midazolam].
We compared extubation time following daily interruption of sedation in intensive care unit patients with renal impairment with two sedation regimes remifentanil-midazolam and fentanyl-midazolam. ⋯ Daily interruption of sedation with remifentanil is associated with shorter weaning and extubation time in patients with renal impairment. However further studies are necessary to determine if this issue is associated with lower rate of ventilation induced complications.

Randomized Controlled Trial[30 microg intrathecal clonidine prolongs labour analgesia, but increases the incidence of hypotension and abnormal foetal heart rate patterns].
To assess the efficacy of spinal clonidine combined with bupivacaine and sufentanil and its effects on maternal and foetal outcome. ⋯ Intrathecal clonidine 30 mug prolongs analgesia. However, it increases the incidence of hypotension, and abnormal foetal heart rate patterns. Thus, this study confirms that the use of 30 mug intrathecal clonidine for labour analgesia is not recommended.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Maternal and neonatal effects of remifentanil for general anaesthesia for Caesarean delivery].
Opioids are routinely omitted at the induction of general anesthesia for Caesarean delivery because of the risks of respiratory neonatal depression. The short-acting opioid remifentanil may afford advantages at the induction and surgical stimulation, without subsequent neonatal depression. ⋯ Remifentanil (0.5 microg/kg) at the induction of anaesthesia in elective Caesarean section under general anaesthesia can be used without subsequent neonatal depression. However, we believe that further research is necessary to extrapolate these results to a pregnancy carrying an acutely distressed foetus.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Hydroxyzine premedication does not alter bispectral index changes following etomidate induction of general anaesthesia].
Various drugs including hydroxyzine are preoperatively administered to facilitate the induction of general anaesthesia. We investigated the effect of hydroxyzine premedication on BIS-based etomidate induction of general anaesthesia. ⋯ Oral weight-related hydroxyzine premedication does not alter BIS-based etomidate induction of GA.
