Prevalence of myocardial infarction among patients with chest pain and cocaine use: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Cocaine abuse is a public health burden. Cocaine is known to cause vasospasm and acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The prevalence of AMI in patients presenting with chest pain and concurrent cocaine use (CPCC) varies among studies. We performed a systemic review and meta-analysis to assess the current literature for the prevalence of AMI in patients with CPCC. ⋯ The overall prevalence of AMI and death among patients with cocaine-associated chest pain was relatively low, although high risk patients were still associated with high prevalence of AMI. Clinicians should consider risk-stratify these patients and treat them accordingly.

Prevalence of pulmonary embolism in patients with acute exacerbations of COPD: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Identification of pulmonary embolism (PE) in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) carries significant therapeutic implications. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of PE in patients with AECOPD. ⋯ In this meta-analysis, the prevalence of PE in patients with AECOPD was 12% and the mortality of patients with PE was higher than those without. This suggests an acute necessity to develop validated diagnostic strategies for identifying PE in patients with AECOPD.

Dexmedetomidine in combination with ketamine for pediatric procedural sedation or premedication: A meta-analysis.
To evaluate effectiveness of combinational use of dexmedetomidine and ketamine (DEX-KET) for pediatric procedural sedation or premedication. ⋯ DEX-KET for pediatric sedation results in better sedation outcomes than DEX or KET by shortening onset of sedation and recovery while maintaining hemodynamic and respiratory stability with low incidence of adverse events. DEX sedation was associated with higher incidence of bradycardia. Higher incidence of oxygen desaturation was observed with KET and PROP-KET whereas MIDA-KET was associated with higher incidence of tachycardia.

Outcomes of atrial fibrillation in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Recently, emerging evidence has suggested that atrial fibrillation (AF) has an epidemiological correlation with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). However, the clinical outcomes of AF in COVID-19 remain inconsistent and inconclusive. The aim of this study was to provide a comprehensive description of the impact of AF on the prognosis of patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. ⋯ The presence of AF is correlated with adverse outcomes in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia, which deserves increased attention and should be managed appropriately to prevent adverse outcomes.

Cardiac markers of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) in COVID-19 patients: A meta-analysis.
A meta-analysis of laboratory cardiac markers for multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) was performed in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). ⋯ The key cardiac marker that showed differences between patients with MIS-C/non-severe COVID-19 and between patients with severe/non-severe MIS-C was BNP. Other markers, such as troponin and AST, did not exhibit notable differences in indicating cardiac injury between patients with MIS-C and COVID-19.
