Clinical outcomes of Covid-19 in patients with rheumatic diseases and the effects of the pandemic on rheumatology outpatient care: A single-center experience from Turkey.
The aim of the study was to detect the frequency and course of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infection among our rheumatology outpatients and to investigate how patient follow-up differed during Covid-19 pandemic in a tertiary University Hospital in the capital of Turkey. ⋯ Many patients with rheumatic diseases are left without disease monitoring during the pandemic. There was no increased risk of severe Covid-19 infection among patients with IRD.

Observational StudyTime to hospitalization, CT pulmonary involvement and in-hospital death in COVID-19 patients in an Emergency Medicine Unit.
Patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are often treated at home given the limited healthcare resources. Many patients may have sudden clinical worsening and may be already compromised at hospitalisation. We investigated the burden of lung involvement according to the time to hospitalisation. ⋯ We found that delayed hospital admission is associated with higher lung involvement. Hence, our data suggest that patients at risk for more severe disease, such as those with high LDH, CRP and d-dimer, should be promptly referred to hospital care.

The impact of clinical pharmacy services on patients with hypertension.
Globally, hypertension is a major concern in all health care systems. The role of clinical pharmacists in managing hypertension is essential not only in dispensing drugs but also in actively participating in managing treatment regimens. The goal of this study was to support the role of clinical pharmacists in managing patient hypertension therapy. ⋯ The interventions of clinical pharmacists were found to be significantly important in improving the outcomes of hypertensive patients. Therefore, legislation making clinical pharmacy services compulsory in Middle Eastern health care systems, and particularly the UAE, is needed to expand the roles of pharmacists within the health care system.

Observational StudyRed cell distribution width. A new parameter for predicting the risk of exacerbation in COPD patients.
Red cell distribution width (RDW) is a numerical measurement of the size variability of erythrocytes and is routinely reported as a component of complete blood count in the differential diagnosis of anemia. In recent years, researchers have reported high mortality and poor prognosis associated with higher RDW in populations with cardiovascular disease, cancer, pneumonia, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The aim of the study is to evaluate the role of RDW in predicting the risk of COPD exacerbations and the impact of symptoms. ⋯ Our data show that elevated RDW may be a useful tool in predicting the risk of exacerbation in COPD patients and may be a good indicator of the impact of symptoms.

The Association between Elevated Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) and Serum Uric Acid Levels (SUA) among Patients with Essential Hypertension in Primary Care Setting in Sungai Buloh, Malaysia.
Our study aimed to investigate the association between elevated carotid-intima media thickness (CIMT) and serum uric acid (SUA) levels in hypertensive patients attending primary care clinics in Sungai Buloh, Malaysia. ⋯ Although there was an increasing trend in the odd of elevated right CIMT across the SUA quartiles, this association, however, was not significant. Preventive effort to tackle the clustering effect of metabolic markers within this study population is needed to reduce the future risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
