Meta AnalysisEffects of resistance training on exercise ability in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease subjects: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The resistance exercise effect on the exercise ability in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) subjects has drawn considerable attention. However, the relationship between resistance exercise and the exercise ability of COPD subjects is conflicting. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate this relationship. ⋯ The resistance exercise significantly increases the 6-minutes walk test in COPD subjects. However, resistance exercise did not significantly affect the constant work rate cycle endurance test, unsupported upper extremity exercise test and quality of life questionnaires. This relationship forces us to recommend the resistance exercise to improve the 6-minutes walk test as a simple and easy evaluation of functional exercise ability in COPD subjects.

Meta AnalysisLidocaine lubricant jelly does not reduce pain perception during female urethral catheterization: a systematic review with meta-analysis and trial sequential analysis.
The use of lubrication before performing urethral catheterization has been recommended. However, the benefit of using lidocaine gel over plain lubricant gel in reducing pain perception during female urethral catheterization is unclear. With this review, we aimed to compare the pain perception during female urethral catheterization with or without lidocaine lubricant gel. ⋯ The use of 2% lidocaine gel in female catheterization does not provide a significant reduction in pain perception as compared to plain lubricant gel.

Review Meta AnalysisComparison of efficacy of various drugs used for medical expulsive therapy for distal ureter stones: a systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Medical expulsive therapy has been found to be effective for distal ureteric stones; however, which drug is most efficacious in terms of stone expulsion rate (SER) and stone expulsion time (SET) is not known. With this review we aimed to compare the efficacy of various drug treatments for distal ureter stones used as medical expulsive therapy in terms of SER and SET. ⋯ For lower ureter stone, tadalafil plus silodosin is the best combination and silodosin best individual drug considering the SET and SER. Nifedipine as monotherapy is no more effective than control group.

Meta AnalysisAdrenal venous sampling with adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation: A meta-analysis.
This meta-analysis was performed to compare the effect of adrenal venous sampling with adrenocorticotropic hormone with that without adrenocorticotropic hormone in subjects with primary aldosteronism. ⋯ Adrenal venous sampling operations with adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation had significantly lower incorrect lateralisation, unsuccessful cannulations in both adrenal veins, unsuccessful cannulations of the left adrenal vein and unsuccessful cannulations of the right adrenal vein compared with adrenal venous sampling operations without adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation in subjects with primary aldosteronism. Larger prospective studies are recommended to confirm these findings.

Meta AnalysisAdvisability of primary intraocular lens implantation for infants under 2: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The present meta-analysis compared the postoperative visual performance of primary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and primary aphakia in cataract infants. ⋯ For infants under 2 years of age, primary IOL implantation would provide more visual benefits compared with primary aphakia did, though the benefits would taper off with the age reaching 4.5 years. Moreover, the current study revealed a higher VAO incidence r in primary IOL implantation group.
