Hepatitis C virus genotype distribution in Turkey remains unchanged after a decade: performance of phylogenetic analysis of the NS5B, E1, and 5'UTR regions in genotyping efficiency.
Hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotyping has a considerable effect on therapy. The aim was to determine the change in prevalence of HCV genotypes in Turkey during the last decade and to compare the performance of DNA sequencing of different targets in the HCV genome (NS5B, E1, and 5'UTR). ⋯ There has been no change in genotyping profiles of Turkey during the last decade, representing 1b as the most prevalent subtype, followed by 1a. Phylogenetic analysis of HCV indicated high performance compared with the hcv.lanl.gov database when sequences of E1 and NS5B regions were analyzed.

Comparative StudyIs there a difference between capsule endoscopy and computed tomography as a first-line study in obscure gastrointestinal bleeding?
Capsule endoscopy (CE) is currently recommended as the first-line study in the evaluation of obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB), while computed tomography (CT) is often thought of as complementary to CE. This study evaluated CT as a first-line study in OGIB and compared it with CE. ⋯ There was no significant clinical difference associated with the order in which the tests were performed. However, CE and CT, when used together, had a significantly greater diagnostic yield than did CE or CT when used alone.

Observational StudyRole of serum myeloperoxidase, CPK, CK-MB, and cTnI tests in early diagnosis of myocardial ischemia during ERCP.
Some patients may experience retrosternal pain during ERCP, which may be a pioneer of a serious myocardial problem, and early diagnosis is very important for the prognosis and management. In the study, we aimed to investigate the role of serum cardiac biomarkers, such as myeloperoxidase (MPO), creatine phospokinase (CPK), creatine kinase- myocardial band (CK-MB), and cTnI, on early diagnosis of myocardial ischemia during endoscopic retrograde cholangio pancreaticograpy (ERCP) procedures. ⋯ Clinically unimportant retrosternal pain, T negativity, and ST segment changes as well as reduced systolic, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rates can be seen during ERCP. MPO and CPK levels remain insignificant if myocardial injury does not develop. Increased CK-MB levels in non-ischemic patients and increased cTnI levels in ischemics may be seen.

Review Case ReportsMeckel's diverticulum detected by computed tomographic enterography: report of 3 cases and review of the literature.
Meckel's diverticulum is a common anomaly of the small intestine and occasionally presents as obscure gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Before operation, it is difficult to diagnose by imaging, especially in adults. Conventional abdominal computed tomography and endoscopy have limitations for the diagnosis of Meckel's diverticulum. ⋯ However, outpouching structures of the distal ileum with enhancement were detected by computed tomographic enterography. All patients underwent small bowel segmental resection. Meckel's diverticulum was confirmed by histopathology of the resected ileum segment, and the type of heterotopic tissue was gastric mucosa.
