Lymphatic malformations (LMs) are rare congenital anomalies. The traditional treatment is surgical excision, but intralesional sclerosing agent injection is also preferred as the first-choice treatment because of postoperative frequent recurrences, poor cosmetic results, and high complication rate. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of sclerosing agent injection used in the treatment of LMs in children. ⋯ Intralesional injection of bleomycin is less effective for microcystic or mixed-type LMs, but provides an effective reduction for a safe surgical procedure. It is an effective treatment for macrocystic lesions.

Neuroinflammation in patients undergoing major surgery can lead to neuronal damage, and neuronal damage can be detected through the measurement of biochemical markers of brain damage. S100 beta (S100 β), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) levels are considered good biomarkers to detect brain damage that emerged with neurotoxicity. ⋯ Neuroprotective approaches in anesthesia protocol protect patients from brain damage during liver transplantation and prevent the development of postoperative cognitive dysfunction. Since the significant increase in NSE levels during liver transplantations was deemed to have been associated with causes other than neuronal damage, NSE should not be evaluated as a marker of brain damage in these operations.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of an artificial intelligence (AI) system in the detection of roots with apical periodontitis (AP) on digital panoramic radiographs. ⋯ The DL method developed for the automatic detection of AP on digital panoramic radiographs showed high recall, precision, and F measure values for the mandible, but low values for the maxilla, especially for the widened periodontal ligament (PL)/uncertain AP.

Two different surgical techniques "inside-out" and "outside-in" have been described for transobturator tape procedure, one of the most preferred methods for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence in the last ten years. This study aimed to compare the success, complication, and patient satisfaction rates related to both techniques in patients who underwent transobturator tape procedure due to stress urinary incontinence in a 21-month period. ⋯ Transobturator tape operation is a procedure that provides high success rates in the treatment of stress urinary incontinence regardless of the used technique. Operation success rates, patient satisfaction rates, and postoperative quality of life scores were found to be almost similar in both surgical techniques.

Heart rate (HR) changes associated with seizures are promising biomarkers in epilepsy. ⋯ Our study supports previous studies showing the presence of increased peri-ictal HR and also provides new insights by comparing focal and generalized motor seizures. We think that our findings may contribute to the development of early warning signs in epilepsy patients.
