Randomized Controlled Trial[Cranial nerve block with bupivacaine for postoperative analgesia following supratentorial craniotomy].
To assess the effectiveness of analgesia by cranial nerve block with bupivacaine in the first 24 hours following elective supratentorial craniotomy. ⋯ Cranial nerve block with 0.25% bupivacaine following supratentorial craniotomy improves postoperative analgesia, reduces the requirement for morphine, and contributes to reducing nausea and vomiting.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Stress response under continuous infusion of remifentanil compared to bolus doses of fentanyl assessed by levels of cytokines, C-reactive protein, and cortisol during and after abdominal hysterectomy].
Surgery and anesthetic method have immunomodulating effects on hemodynamic response and stress. We compared the effects of 2 intraoperative analgesic regimens on patients undergoing abdominal hysterectomy. ⋯ Unlike other clinical trials, our study detected no differences between the 2 techniques in response to surgical stress evaluated by analyzing concentrations of pro- and anti-inflammatory cytokines, cortisol, and C-reactive protein.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Cost-effectiveness analysis of patient-controlled analgesia compared to continuous elastomeric pump infusion of tramadol and metamizole].
Little information is available on the cost-effectiveness of postoperative patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). The present study compared PCA to continuous infusion by elastomeric pump. ⋯ The analgesic efficacy of the 2 regimens was similar. However, patient satisfaction was greater with PCA and use of an elastomeric pump was more expensive. In the setting of the present study, postoperative PCA proved to be more advantageous than continuous elastomeric pump infusion.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Haloperidol or droperidol with dexamethasone for antiemetic prophylaxis in laparoscopic cholecystectomy].
To compare haloperidol to droperidol, both with dexamethasone, for antiemetic prophylaxis in elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Either haloperidol or droperidol in combination with dexamethasone is more effective than dexamethasone alone for antiemetic prophylaxis after laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Hyperbaric bupivacaine: a randomized double-blind trial of different doses with or without fentanyl for cesarean section under spinal anesthesia].
To compare the effects of spinal anesthesia with different doses of hyperbaric bupivacaine with or without fentanyl in patients undergoing cesarean section. ⋯ Acceptable operative conditions with a low incidence of hypotension are provided with an 11 mg dose of hyperbaric bupivacaine.
