Multicenter Study Observational StudyCritically ill COVID-19 patients attended by anesthesiologists in northwestern Spain: a multicenter prospective observational study.
There are limited information on outcome, complications and treatments of critically ill COVID-19 patients requiring admission to an intensive care unit (ICU). The aim of this study is to describe the clinical ICU course, treatments used, complications and outcomes, of critically ill COVID-19 patients admitted in seven ICU in Galicia region during the 2020 March-April pandemic peak. ⋯ A high proportion of our critically ill COVID-19 patients required mechanical ventilation, prone positioning, antiviral medication, corticosteroids, and anticoagulants. ICU complications were frequent, mainly infections and thrombotic events. We had a relatively low mortality of 15,5%.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyPatient characteristics, clinical course and factors associated to ICU mortality in critically ill patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in Spain: A prospective, cohort, multicentre study.
The clinical course of COVID-19 critically ill patients, during their admission in the intensive care unit (UCI), including medical and infectious complications and support therapies, as well as their association with in-ICU mortality has not been fully reported. ⋯ Older COVID-19 patients with higher APACHE II scores on admission, those who developed AKI grades ii or iii and/or septic shock during ICU stay had an increased risk-of-death. ICU mortality was 31%.

Multicenter StudyNational survey on perioperative anaesthetic management in the endovascular treatment of acute ischaemic stroke.
To assess the anaesthetic management of treatment for endovascular acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) in Spain. ⋯ The wide variability observed in the anaesthetic management and the organization of the endovascular treatment of AIS demonstrates the need to create common guidelines for anaesthesiologists in Spain.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyAnalgesic effect of a single-dose of perineural dexamethasone on ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block after total knee replacement.
Total knee replacement is usually a very painful procedure. A single-dose of femoral nerve block has been shown to provide similar analgesia to an epidural, with fewer side effects, but limited in time. ⋯ Dexamethasone prolongs sensory block of single dose of femoral nerve block using ropivacaine. It also provides better analgesia and patient satisfaction, with fewer side effects.

Multicenter Study[Implementation of blood sparing programs in Spain: results of a survey of departments of anesthesiology and resuscitation].
The objective of this article is to determine the availability of a perioperative transfusion management program (Patient Blood Management [PBM]) in various hospitals through a survey that included a description of the preanesthesia visit, the availability and use of the various blood-sparing techniques and the factors limiting their implementation in elective surgery. The survey included 42 questions, directed at the representative departments of anesthesiology of hospitals in Spain (n=91). The survey was conducted from September to November 2012. ⋯ The absence of a well-established circuit and the lack of involvement and collaboration with the surgical team were the main limiting factors in implementing PBM. Currently, the implementation of PBM in Spain could be considered acceptable, but it could also be improved, especially in the treatment of preoperative anemia. The implementation of PBM requires multidisciplinary collaboration among all personnel responsible for perioperative care, including the health authorities.
