Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Preoperative diclofenac does not reduce pain of laparoscopic cholecystectomy].
To study the safety and efficacy of diclofenac for preemptive analgesia in the first 24 hours after elective laparoscopic cholecystectomy (ELC). ⋯ Simple preemptive analgesia with 1 mg/Kg i.m. of diclofenac 60 minutes before induction of anesthesia does not decrease pain intensity or the need for rescue analgesia in the first 24 hours after ELC.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Metamizol versus propacetamol: comparative study of the hemodynamic and antipyretic effects in critically ill patients].
To compare the antipyretic and hemodynamic effects of metamizol and propacetamol in critically ill patients with fever. ⋯ Both metamizol and propacetamol are effective antipyretics at the doses tested. However, both have adverse hemodynamic side effects that may be poorly tolerated by critically patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Efficacy of 1% ropivacaine with and without hyaluronidase for peribulbar block].
To determine whether adding hyaluronidase to 1% ropivacaine without adrenalin enhances peribulbar anesthesia for cataract surgery with phacoemulsification. ⋯ The greater efficacy of a peribulbar block with the addition of 10 U/mL of hyaluronidase to 1% ropivacaine without adrenalin, in comparison to 1% ropivacaine alone, was demonstrated by a lower rate of reinjection and ocular mobility, even though no statistically significant difference in either ocular or palpebral akinesia was found.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Duration and quality of postoperative analgesia after brachial plexus block for shoulder surgery: ropivacaine 0.5% versus ropivacaine 0.5% plus clonidine].
Some authors have found that nerve blocks with local anesthetics may last longer if clonidine is added. The present study analyzed the duration and quality of analgesia provided by an interscalene brachial plexus block for shoulder surgery using 0.5% ropivacaine or 0.5% ropivacaine with added clonidine. ⋯ Adding 40 micrograms of clonidine to 200 mg of 0.5% ropivacaine does not prolong the sensory-motor block or improve the quality of analgesia in the early postoperative period.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Effect of low-dose intravenous ketamine in postoperative analgesia for hysterectomy and adnexectomy].
To evaluate the efficacy of low dose ketamine (0.15 mg/Kg i.v.) as a pre-emptive pain relief after general anesthesia. ⋯ A low dose of ketamine has no preemptive analgesic effect.
